i remember seeing a photo of the Jap Super Tennis in a games mag, and one of the charatcers had the word **** above them instead of the usual RATS or whatever it is they said in the Western version., Was this real? It would be cool if in the next Xbox tennis instead of the silly ATTITUDE thing you could make your player swear, making up your own swear combos! well, cool for a while anyway!

In order to get around BBFC laws about not being able to show Nunchukas in use in films (and presumably games although the rule was implemented in the seventies) Li Long's weapons graphic were changed in the PAL version so the weapon became morelike a 3 section staff rather than two pieces of wood connected by a chain (although an actual 3 Section Staff is much larger in real life.
His play style was exactly the same, it was just a minor aestetic change really. They even altered frames in the CG introduction scene to reflect this.
I think this was the last game to have to have a change like this made and the rules are more leniant nowadays. Last Bronx on the Saturn (released not long after Soul Blade) had nunchukas intact, as have both Soul Callibur games in PAL territories.

Didn't all the console versions of Duke Nukem have cuts made? I'm pretty sure the N64 versions all had the boobies and swearing taken out, and I think the Saturn and PS1 versions were cut but less so.
I also remember that in Doom there was a level in the second episode where some computers are arranged in such a way that they form a swastika on the map. This part of the map was changed in the SNES version and also in later PC builds.
Also one more was The Punisher (an really under-rated game IMHO) - Volition changed all the execution set-peices so that the camera goes b&w and pans away from the messiness. This was to avoid getting an M rating because most major US chains won't carry M-rated games (i.e. Walmart).Last edited by MattyD; 02-05-2006, 19:37.

At least... I'm fairly sure that was what happened. Been a while since I read up on that.
