Will Next Gen Consoles re-spark my VG intrest

I have a confession, I haven't (seriously) played a videogame in over 5 months, for a number of reasons. Im lacking time and im lacking intrest. I own an Xbox and PS2 and could easily buy any game out today but I just don't want to, that urge has gone. Will the next generation consoles and the hype that surronds them turn me back on to gaming or am I a lost cause? Has anyone else been through something like this? Whats going to be good enough about next gen games to totally change the way I look at games, will I now see them as a time filler instead of a time waster?

Can understand what your saying totally, had an Xbox and Ps2 but found them ultimately dull and the only games I ever completed were Halo 1 and 2.

I have to say though that the PSP and DS have really got me interested in games again big time nearly as much as when I first had a SNES and Megadrive.

I waa the same a while ago and stopped playing games for maybe 4 months or so, untill I got a DS. The love came back after that and now i'm back into the swing of things.

almost sad to say but a friend got back into gaming after 2 years by buying a Megadrive and bunch of games, his PS2 still sits there gathering dust.

It doesn't matter too much if you start disliking games. I think a lot of people start collecting after a while and the fun factor of games takes a back seat. I'm guilty of this... There are a million and one things you could do instead. read a book, draw a picture, go for a walk, take up a sport.
I go off games from time to time. I highly doubt I will bother buying the new consoles. I will get a DS but thats it for me, I reckon.

To answer the original question: Doubtful. If 'Xbox 360' (unbelievably **** name, nice job Microsoft) is anything to go by, God no. But teh graphix will be goood

Nintendo's machine may turn out to be something different, so maybe that will catch your eye?

Not too bothered about the new next-gen consoles. Especially the first wave of titles which will purely be used as graphic-wank fests

I'll stick with my DS for now. And continue to worship at the feet of the DC

Perhaps, like a lot of people, you're just abit pissed off with 1st person shooters and racing games - I think its fair to say Xbox is lacking in pretty much every genre apart from those two. You could try going for a Nintendo system - lots of highly playable games on GC.

But like others have said, if you don't like Xbox, you aint gonner like the next machine.

I have recently gone back to my Nintendo64, and am playing through US beauts such as Ocarina of Time, the fab Waverace64, and Pilotwings. Other than that, I play a few of my Japanese PlayStation2 games which sell about 10 copies when they're released here, and I am loving my Nintendo DS still.

I got totally fed up with 1st person this, and 1st person that on Xbox, and have now pretty much given up on the machine. The only game that draws me back to the system is Outrun2, and the odd Friday night PGR2 session so I can have a natter with my mates.

i've been like this i just went off console games and got playing pc stuff. i bought a new game and played it for a couple of hours and got bored so i wouldn't bother to play it again. i've just got back into playing games properly with gt4 and been playing doom3 abit

what happened to me though was i got addicted to buying all the games that came out, which i liked and it got too much, just didn't find them fun anymore

Ive been doing that for some time, i like online gaming alot as the developer tends to set the stage and the players do what they want with what they have. Really have to start digging for somthing different now.

hopefully all this new hardware will give games some of their epicness back, how long has it been since (and I know this is a cliche) we've had anything on the scale of hyrule field to run around?

I miss that sense of "whoa whats that waaaaay over there in the distance, lets go see!" the only game to do it even a little bit recently has been gta.

Im not really bored of this generation, just no urge to buy a game to get bored of. Nothing is motivating me into even going into a games shop. I've turned alot of my attention to dvd's now. Maybe im 'growing up' but I doubt thats the case. I used to have a cube and ****ing loved wind waker from what I played of it, I think I lost intrest in games same time I stopped playing my cube, I just love the simplicity of nintendo games, so hopefully the new machine will have alot of really 'fun' games.
