With a slew of new boxes coming our way over the next 12 months, what consoles/AV equipment are sitting under the telly on borrowed time?
It's not like these new consoles are small either with the 360 and PS3 being similar sizes to their predecessor's.
I was all ready to get rid of my CRT a couple of months back but with Hi-def being a large part of the next-gen experience i though it would be daft spending over a grand on somthing that will be out-dated within 6 months. Those Hi-def Samsung's are looking mighty tempting.
My trusty Pioneer 717 DVD player will have to go after a good 6 years of loyal service as it's a monster of a player and is very sensitive to what it play's now. Also with HD/Recordable DVD players coming down to a reasonable price level the old VCR may have to be layed to rest.
The main problem now comes with backwards compatibility of the new consoles. With many peeps on this mighty forum owning chipped/imported games/consoles the backwards compatibility doesn't really mean nowt. So the likes of the Xbox, PS2 and GC will probably remain a permanant fixture for at least a few years to come?
My Q has only been turned on a few times since i bought it a year or so back so that may go and my Jap N64 may have to be relegated to the games room. I may even have to let the Neo-Cd Front-loader go and if the worst happens teh 3DO may be banished forever.
What box sized sacrifices will you be making?
