Situations which require you to take an item to a certain area and punish you in he prosess and make you repeat it again and again.

Recentley i have been playing monster hunter online on the ps2 and this has some of the most frustrating missions you are ever likley to come across, these missions require you to carry an egg or some other breakable object across the entire level without dropping it.

To hinder you there are monsters at every turn that knock the egg out of your hand if they so much as sneeze on you, if that wasent bad enough you these eggs are bloddy heavy and make you move really bloody slow.

The frustrating thing is the actualy monster slaying is fantastic its just these stupid escort misson that ruin the game for me they just wind me up so much and cause me to make stupid mistakes.

Another one. It's been mentioned, but games that rely on luck over skill to complete infuriate the hell out of me.

Majora's Mask had one such bit near the end (the Goron level in pursuit of the Fierce Deity mask).

Mr Driller on the DS is trying my patience for the same reason. The DriStone missions in particular are almost 90% luck. It's all about using items to get through, but if it doesn't give you any items, then you have no choice but to die.

AI in some fighting games such as mortal kombat 1 2 3 and streetfighter the movie.Where you play quite happily win a few fights then all of a sudden the opponents become frustratingly hard. When you jump they counter when you do a move they counter.

Following on from "games that c**t you over"

Trauma Center ... I love it, but parts of it can be ridiculously annoying when the patient's health suddenly drops, meaning you have to start the whole operation over. Grrr.

Odama is testing my determination to love it in spite of its flaws (though knowing the often-sadistic bent of Japanese military doctrine, that's probably the point).

I'm willing to live with most of the weirdness purely for its own sake, but I can't overlook the unavoidable mass-slaughter of your own men that seems to be part and parcel of the game.

Another one is incredibly complex and involved games like Street Fighter III which, though excellent, seem to expect you to divine the subtleties and minutia of their game mechanics with help from your trusty crystal ball. I have the Anniversary Edition and there's nothing in the manual at all about counters, parries, or any of the other seven pages-worth of options you can play with in the in-game menus. I don't have a clue what half of them mean.

i thought my title was better

Pro evo every pro evo game there is, you know what happens you dominate the game and suddenly somehow the computer wins, whether it is a flukey attack or a weak penalty where you hardly touched a player. I once lost by a goal in the last minute where i did an ordinary pass back to my keeper who then preceded to ignore the ball and just stand there and watch the ****er slowly roll into the back of the net. I don't believe the is a game in exsistence that has got the ability to c**t you over like pro evo has. Hmmmm.... so it is just like the real game then

                Burnout Revenge (360 at least).

After I've done an event I don't want to watch as it slowly ticks up the stars then adds one for silver or gold - Takes far too long and reeks of bad design.

Fortunately I found a workaround - Press "Y" to view the details screen then press "B" to go back and it skips it
