Not quite for me. I've stopped buying current generation games unless they're really **** hot. So I got a list of four games left to buy this generation.

I still totally dig 24/7 games, I'm off to buy my ticket to Tokyo to TGS this week, but I agree there's a lot of crap coming out, and it pains me when people flip over third rate ****e like MotoGP, 99 Nights or Chrome Hounds just because it's 720p on a new console. Same old crap, new coat of paint.

Feel free to flip over Metal Gear Solid 4, Gears of War or Lost Planet though.

I got a quarantine system going on. Finish or get sick of a game, it sits on a pile. Pile gets too big, the 8 worst games go get get swapped for new ones. Hardly ever make any mistakes that way.

I rest easy in the knowledge that my collection of games gives me great pleasure and is almost certainly worthless. More trouble to sell than to keep.

When people dump their old hobbies and get new ones that's pretty cool, but I think I'm good for another 5 years. When the PS4 and Xbox 720 come out and look the bloody same as the PS3 and 360 that might be the time for me.

I think the problem with this hobby is it's pretty lonely really...

I dunno, depends if you can get together with people to play games together or even just to see stuff you wouldn't have bought yourself. I'd have loved the idea of wifi play when I was first into games but I'd have got even less sun, haha.

I dunno, I've had mateys over but they always get on my tits, frankly. They do the "You have games, I have none" thing and try and make you feel guilty for having a few nice games and shoes on your feet. "Oh, I wish I could have games too but I have to pay the bills". They even used to do this when I was obviously living in a ****hole and the only nice thing I had was a games collection. Pretty obvious I was making lots of sacrifices to have that collection.

After making you feel guilty, they then want to borrow your stuff, and then never give it back.

So I got the perfect solution now, all the games are in a room, under lock and key, and nobody but me ever hears or sees them. It's a very solo lonely hobby really.

          Shame to hear that mate.

Although I dont play exclusive multiplayer games, I tend to play adventure games, I play multiplayer with my brother almost every night and my best mate and close friends along with work collegues play games .

If you realy wanted to play multiplayer have you considered selling some of your stuff for an uber PC? Battlefield 2 and COD 2?

Multiplayer wise it's Halo 2 all the way with various Soul Calibur and Dreamcast fighting games on weekends every so often. I dont play console games online as I dont like the experiance much but offlline is brillant!

I never liked multiplayer online that much, always full of 14 year old little gits screaming for their chocolate milk, cheaters and general annoying gits. You know... Americans.

Doesn't matter really, rather not turn this into "Let's get billy no mates sad bastard some gaming mates who aren't total c*nts". I am married and stuff, I'm not sitting in a bedsit all by myself only occassionally visiting the super market at 3am dressed as a character out of Art of Fighting. Just you know.... Be cool to have mates who share my interests...

Should take up betting on horses or some crap like that, those guys tend to be popular... Applefiend the gent they'd call me, come home stinking of cheap booze and fags, fantastic...

But I hate horses... Any animal that walks and ****s at the same time...

I spent the best part of my day off yesterday unpacking all my games/consoles and other various bits. You see, I had almost everything games related stored away in boxes. New stuff would come through the post, I'd add it to the ever-increasing pile of boxes which dominated the living room.
Needless to say, this looked a right mess and prevented me from entering the room if someone else was located there (I think I need some more shelves).

So, I unpacked everything. First I emptied the 60x60 inch monstrosity that'd held all my consoles in. Once that was done, all lesser sized boxes were flat packed and squeezed inside.

It wasn't until I went to take it to the local skip site that I realized how much stuff I must've bought over the last 18 months. I had enough bubble wrap to assemble my own poor mans bouncy castle. I also found stuff I forgot I'd even bought. This is ridiculous. I mean, WHO keeps individual games wrapped in bubble wrap in separate boxes?!

I think it's time to cut my collection down. Back to basics, and all that.
I'm thinking no more than the 20 of the best for each console. And I'm thinking about scrapping my Dreamcast all together. I haven't played it in ages.

I thought you'd skip'd your collection then. Thankfully you hadn't.

You'll be wanting that bubble wrap when it comes to selling all that kit. :-P

                    and :-) to Applefiend.

I've cut mine down a hell of a lot.
I cleared all my vidoegame mags, over 2 cupboards worth inc. a complete set of Mean Machines ( I had two sets luckily!), Ultimate Futuregames, Official Sega Saturn and loads more sets, over 2 years ago - all went in the bin! Which I kind of regret now.

I sold most of my expensive gear off, I mean who needs 3 varieties of Saturn for Christ sakes?
I mainly stick to systems I've bought for dirt cheap or emulation on the Xbox and P.C. I also think the prices for certain retro titles are ridiculous, I mean 80 bones for Panzer Dragoon Saga, yeah its a decent game but it's worth about as much as my car!

I like the Xbox becuase I use it as a media centre as well as for games, but I often think It's a bit stupid a grown man with all this videogame gear; but then again I guess it's also a passion and has been a mainstay since I first played an Atari in the early 80's.
I've certainly cut back a lot, and I think eventually most people do. It's coupled with the fact I find it hard to bother with a lot of games due to time constraints. A lot of the newer stuff seems to require 18 buttons and 300 joystick pushes before you even start the game, and everybody wants to immerse you in games these days. I don't want that, I wouldn't sit there for 6 hours anymore ploughing my way through the latest adventure game.
I think that emulation on the PSP is a great idea because it means you can pick up and play when you fancy it and saves you having 30 consoles set up infront of the TV and being rooted to one spot.

I think you have to make a distinction between being a hyper-spod and a person who really loves games and is happy with playing what they have. I guess I'm both, but money (or lack of it) seems to keep me in the happy-with-what-I-have category.

I'm happy to say I'm managing to slowly whittle down the number of games, most my PAL N64 stuff is goin now even though I only have NTSC cart only versions to replace em at the moment, but I don't play the N64 too often at all anyway. It can be very hard to let go though I'm finding.

I'm down to a PSP with 2 games and a DS with 7 games. More than enough to play there.

I got rid of all my videogame magazines a few years back (enough to fill a large 'Jack Fulton'-style chest freezer that was sitting in the kitchen.) Binned 'em all gradually over a period of two-three months. Never missed any of them.

The main thing now is that I have a huge selection of games, 90% being A/AA/AAA or rare/possible 'future collectible' titles and I've got no chance of playing them all, nor much inclination to because I'm not sure which ones I should devote my time to. It's just too stressful and energy-draining thinking about the buggers. And they're always lurking there, hogging too much space...

I'm thinking of some kind of 'gaming retirement', but one which allows me regular access to Bust A Move.

Im getting rid of all my handhelds except DS lite. Making progress.

Im starting to wonder if getting rid of all EXCEPT Lite is a good idea. Its all I seem to play anyway!
