I'll be completely 'gameless' soon as I shall be off to Australia at the end of this month so I guess it will feel a little bit weird in some respects.

It is a good feeling when you sell everything and get some money in return to go towards other (more important) things although I am sure there will be some game(s) in the future that slowly lures me back into videogames.

I've had a massive downsize in my gaming real estate since the transition from last gen to now. Over the last five years I've owned a PS2, PS2 Slim, PS3, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360, Dreamcast, Gamecube, DS, DS Lite, GBA SP and Wii.

I've subsequently settled on one console and one handheld. PS3 (slim...naturally) and the PSP (will be trading in for a GO I imagine though). These two do me nicely and although I miss out on the odd exclusive, I'm happy with the output on both consoles enough for me not to be too bothered.

I've stopped referring to myself as a gamer. As it stands the only game I really play with any consistency is Street Fighter(s) and that's about it. I do horde strange things though (most recently a JP Dreamcast keyboard) but I've been thinking of just jettisoning most of my gear. Although unlike many of you there's no big collection of sorts, just odds and sods.

But they're MY odds and sods!

I guess the main thing that's helped me hold onto things is my complete and utter laziness in getting rid of things. It's more of a space issue now rather than money (although I imagine I'd be happy selling some of the stuff like my Megajet). I've got six Megadrives in the attic for pete's sake, yet they've been sitting there for a good few years now. This thread is probably going to kick me into gear though. I'm not sentimental but there are a few things (mostly Sega games and consoles) that I will never want to part with no matter what, mainly because I'd just end up buying them again for more money, but I'll have to just be realistic about things.

I too have become disenfranchised with the current state of gaming but I do have a 360 and am planning on a slim PS3. I won't completely discount the current gen as there have been a few gems, but my 360 is basically my Street Fighter machine.

Trouble with upgrading from PSP to Go is that you'll lose all those games. I suppose you're streamlining, but would this not bother you?

Come to a decision. I've decided to keep:

            PAL 360, 1 Hori EX2, 9 PAL games
            NTSC-J 360 & 11 NTSC-J games
            Red & Green 360 pads
            Duo-R & 5 CD games
            Core Grafx 2 & 8 HuCard games

Possibly the PS3 if the Mrs keeps up her Minna no Golf 5 habit

Everything else gaming wise is going. Not too much of a tough decision to make, but shifting it all is gonna be a chore!!!

9 systems, accessories and about 100 games. Just keeping the stuff I still 'enjoy'.

Anyone reckon ebay is worth it for PS1, MD & unboxed SNES stuff or would I be better off just doing a car boot?

im gonna be doing pretty much the same thing really soon, as these days i only play my ps3 im gonna offload all my previous consoles and games, absolutely truckloads of jp ps1 ps2 and gamecube games.
For me nowadays there's no point in them just siting there, i mean even with the backwards compatability of ps3 the only ps2 game thats ever been in it was sf3 3rd strike.
I wouldnt want to ebay them all and have them go for bobbins each especially when some of them are considered pretty rare but anyway back on topic, im doing up my room soon and going for the ultra minimalistic look so gonna offload ALL clutter.

Same. Expect a huge sales thread sometime soon.

I will rebuild my collection in the form of MVS, Jamma, GBA and N64 carts.

Over the years I've downsized to nothing but current gen (UK 360, Jp 360, UK PS3 & PSP, US Wii). It all sits nicely under the TV and more than serves my gaming needs (the sheer number of quality titles on the market these days is amazing).

Long gone are the days when I dig a console out and set it up because I want to play one game. Yes, this applies to Dreamcast & Shenmue, as it does to the Saturn & Silvergun, N64 & Pilotwings, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks to VC, XBLA, PSN etc I can generally play most of my retro faves on my gurrent gen set-up, and they look great on my 'current gen tv' too

Does good to shed some weight ... I did the same with dvds too ... feels good to have a small but focussed collection that justifies its square footage in your home on a week to week basis.

Just out of interest which 360 games did you decide to keep and why? I'm trying to whittle my collection down.

I used to collect a fair few games when I was younger, however, I now have a bit of an obsession with cleaning and sorting out, which means my games have taken the hit too.

Currently all I have is a PAL Xbox 360 and 4 games (The Orange Box; Oblivion; Left4Dead and Batman Arkham Asylum) as I am preparing for the influx of new releases over the next few months.

I also have a small box which contains nostalgic games that I wont ever get rid of, Like Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Shenmue, Halo 1, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, MGS3 signed by Kojima etc. But there's only about 8 or 10 games in the nostalgia box which lives in the loft.

I find only having a few games allows me to concentrate more on them and play them to full completion rather than buying a shed load calling myself a collector but not actually playing the games for fun and keeping them sealed. I have a lot more fun playing games now than what I did when I collected them.

                        PAL:
                        Burnout Paradise
                        Chromehounds
                        Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2
                        EDF2017
                        Fallout 3
                        GTAIV
                        Import Tuner Challenge
                        Onechanbara
                        Sega Mega Drive Collection

                        NTSC:
                        Bullet Witch
                        DeathSmiles
                        Love Football
                        Onechanbara VorteX

                        Rumble Roses XX
                        Shutokou Battle X
                        Live Arcade disc
                        Crackdown
                        Spectral Force 3

Mostly it's stuff I need to finish off or more importantly, stuff I WANT to finish off. Others I've got the full 1000G+ but still play, Burnout for online challenges, Fallout cos there's still so much to explore etc.
