And if anyone's played Darkstalkers on the white PSP, please tell if you can jump diagonally.

      Thanks.

        Sometimes.

While the white one is better for the d-pad, it would be a real stretch of the imagination to call it a good d-pad. It's still rubbish.

And as for discolouration - no, not yet anyway. The analogue nub has been a little grubby but it's easy to take off and clean. Aside from that its still shiny white.

same here, no yellowing etc, as clean as the day I got it

Capcom are bundling a rubber cover for the D-pad with new SF PSP game, so should help with the diagonal moves

Is the White PSP dpad the same or worse than the dualshock dpad?

            thanks.

Oh way worse in my opinion. It makes the dualshock d-pad look like a work of genius.

Thanks - was considering getting a white one, but will wait for a better model, or that capcom thingy.

My little brothers getting one of these for christmas and I had a quick test to make sure everything was fine.

It felt a hell of a lot nicer than my black one to play and I much prefer the white, no finger marks etc. Will definately have to pick one up next year.

UK model, dodgy R shoulder button?

I got a UK ceramic white yesterday, and took it back today, because the shoulder buttons were not the same in action. They both worked, but the L shoulder had a smooth, soft action, whilst the R shoulder had a definite click to it. The unbalanced effect was quite unsettling when playing the Loco Roco demo.

Game were happy to exchange it, after showing me how their demonstrator machine didn't have the problem for reassurance. But when I opened the replacement unit (box was sealed) I found this one has the same problem

Has anyone else had this? Is it a common or known problem? I'm not sure how many more times I can stand to take it back.

The model number is PSP-1003KCW if thats of any interest.

For what it's worth, mine is fine and has the same model number; I'd be shocked if you find one with a different number, actually.

As for the d-pad, it seems fine, but I've been spending my whole time on purE and the analogue.

What version of firmware is on the Pal white PSP's?

                        Comment

Mid - thanks for the information, I'm glad there are good ones to be had.

spinpug666 - Firmware is 2.6 on both white UK units I've had so far.

I fired the second one up anyway earlier, and this one has a perfect screen. Is that rare or common these days? When I mentioned the shoulder faults to a mate he said his (black one) was exactly the same, and he had dead pixels too.

I'm starting to wonder if I should keep this one because of the screen. Opinions gratefully recieved

Dead/stuck pixels can appear at any time, even though you dont have any now doesnt mean you wont get any

if you're unhappy with it - return it

I think I'm going to return it again. Could anyone tell me their idea of how the shoulders should work though? I've had several different impressions:

o My mate said his is exactly the same, and he's not bothered
o The girl that did the first exchange said it was the clicking shoulder that was the broken one, and showed my a demo unit that had both shoulders not clicking
o 2 of my colleagues had a look at it this morning and both declared that on their units, both shoulders click

and best of all, when I phoned Sony last night, the guy told me "some buttons feel different to others, its not a fault, for example the square button" at which point I interrupted him before he made me lose my temper

I have a Japanese White PSP and both shoulder buttons have always clicked - it pisses people right off when I play LocoRoco on the train!

So you can get the white one in the UK now - Boo! I'm no longer 'special'.
