Car Boot Booty !

Local papers are a good source and generally word of mouth. Going to local markets and asking sellers of tat also works and being lucky enough to happen accross a sign...only happened once to me though! And if you ask in local newsagents and churches (seriously!) people will tell you - basically any place where word of mouth rules! And the local council as they should be aware of such gatherings (to clean up litter etc).

You can pick up a lot of bargains from people offloading their kids' old stuff without knowing what it's worth. The person who bought my boxed Optimus Prime (worth ?100-200) for a few quid when my mum sold it will tell you that

She sold all my old Transformers and original Star Wars figures, many of which were boxed and worth a ****load...

My dad has also found a gold ring in a box of tat - must have fallen off someones hand and then a ?20 note in another box - not the same day I grant you but the same level of luck!
I do think that most people are wising up to the boot sale game - a few months ago while in Telford a boot sale chappy wanted ?3 for single SNES carts, ?10 for grubby playstations and the same for MD's! However never give up hope readers, there will one day be that stall you happen accross where you will find your bargin...!!

I've seen those prices for years but i still pick up stuff dirt cheap. Just avoid the dealers and get there early

I did get a USA Secret Of Mana, boxed complete and near mint ?5 once, sold it on Ebay for ?60.

But that was a one-off, most of the time you see overpriced ****e, so patience and luck is required to get the good stuff.

Haha you wouldnt believe it but Ive just been into Help the Aged and sitting there amongst the board games was a Saturn SS Hori stick and a PS1 Hori stick for ?3 each! I almost jizzed myself

i had a pretty good weekend

i got a unboxed dreamcast, with 1 controller, fishing controller, vmu thing, rf cable, mains, virtua tennis and sega bass fishing for ?7

fear effect 2 - retro fusion or whatever its called, ?2, absolutly mint.

ninja gaiden - xbox classics (not ninja gaiden black) got home opened it, and the disc is absolutly scratched to ****, it works though.. ?5 :'(

Bank holiday boot was ****e round here...and I went to two of them!

In the end managed to pick up Street Racing Syndicate and Worms 3d for the X-Box for 50p each, an N64 with 2 boxed controllers, 4 boxed games plus a memory card for ?8.

Also, School of Rock on DVD for 50p. Sweet.

Only thing of note gotten from a boot recently was a complete PS1 for a tenner. By complete, that's box, styro inserts, everything still bagged and tagged, including the demo disc. Also included FIFA 99 (yum!).

mate, charity shops (if you can be arsed to trawl them) are a veritable goldmine... i got a stack of Nes games for ?10 from rspca one in town and a few minty boxed megadrive games from another charity place up by my house.

Not a lot about today, though i was happy to pick up complete Pal Megadrive copies of Dragon's Fury and Dragon's Revenge for a quid each. Didn't even know Dragon's Revenge existed, is it 'teh r@r3' (i know it's still cheap, though)?
Was chuffed to pick up a minty R2 copy of Bad Santa for ?2 too

I got a snes with boxed zelda and mario all stars, 2 pads for ?10 reckon I could have got it for ?8 but I only had ?5 on me so asked her to put it aside for me while i went to the cash point 1 mile away I think she realised after walking 2 miles she could get asking price , and a GBA, tetris and pokemon pinball for ?3.50 so not too bad.

had a great bargain though while looking through a box of old ps1 games i found Castlevania Sympatony of the nite i asked the women how much and she said there 5 for ?10 so i thought ok kept on looking and found final fantasy 7,8 and 9 also picked up some fishing game aswell noidea what it is but i had to get one more game.

wow thats awesome I wish that happened to me more often but I hardly ever see PS1 games at boot sales, but sometimes I feel really guilty that a parent has taken their sons stuff whens hes gone off to uni or something without him knowing and selling it for dirt cheap
