After playing Halo 2 online so much, going back to the campaign is so much fun.

If you've not played it in ages and just play multiplayer, give it a go.

"But here's another bonus ? the hardware in the 360 can do a lot of nifty stuff, and specifically in the cases of Halo and Halo 2, it can display the graphics in wide screen, at 720p, with full scene anti-aliasing. And it doesn't look kludgy, artifacty or smeary like an upscanning DVD player. The best way to describe it is that both games look like they're running on a PC at those resolutions"

Shame it looks like ass on PC, even at high resolution.

What were you expecting? The textures were designed for 480i/480p.

It's not just the textures that look bad, the geometry is all so flat and lifeless. They'd have to completely overhaul the game to make it look impressive by today's standards.

Can't really complain I guess, seeing as it's just a free extra. A little novelty rather than something genuinely exciting, right?

There was a fair bit more bump mapping in Halo 2 , so it may look better.

So what was the story with this in the end?

I put the first Halo in while I was logged into LIVE and got an update for the game. Loaded up my saved game and the ratio has changed - got bars on the sides of the screen... What gives?

Probably because the game never had a widescreen mode in it, so they later updates rectify this by black barring it.

It does play in widescreen but only in 480p, not 720p or 1080i for some reason.
