I'm also one for keeping my PSP "taint free" I didn't buy mine with the intention of running dodgy emus and **** like that on it - the PSP isn't what I'd call the strongest (physically) piece of hardware on the planet and I'd prefer to keep my warranty intact incase something unfortunate were to befoul it.

My system was a 1.5 firmware out of the box and I updated it the very same day, even though I don't own a wireless router to use the web browse People shouldn't blame Sony if their games are designed not to work on fireware with these flaws in them which allow god knows what sort of dodgy characters to tamper with.

I've just upgraded mine from version 1 to version 2, as the draw of the new games was becoming too strong Gradius, I'm looking at you!

Main problem I have with the whole thing to be honest is more the fact that the forcing of firmware upgrade gives the impression that this new firmware does something the old one does not in order to play the game, which it doesn't. The new firmware does nothing the old one does not as far as playing GTA, they're just using GTA as a carriage to push the update on.

Which is kinda sucky, as much as I understand their reasons.

Aren't they storing video for the game in a format that only the newer firmware can decode? Bit of a token usage but none the less..

Right, dunno if this is allowed but....

Anybody know where to find the V2.0 upgrade (for JAP White PSP)? I've heard there's different firmwares for different regions floating about, so anyone done this for there white PSP, so they can downgrade later?

Only GTA, GTA2, GTA3, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas and GTA: LCS for the developer logos and intro movies.

The Rockstar logo and LCS titles are pmf files - I have viewed them on my 1.5 PSP using the homebrew/hack PMF player so they are definitely not the problem
