All official magazines are crap, not just becuase they are bias, but becuase they are wrote by people who don't seem to know what they are on about. For instance, I think the people who write for the Official Playstation 2 Magazine actually belive that Killzone is a good game and a great technical acomplishment. NOM seemed pretty acurate with its scores to me actually (besides PN 03!!!) but the fact that it spoke to the reader as if they were eleven years old really pissed me off.
So yeah... they still need to burn in hell....

It's obligatory, but the simple solution to writing like that is to stay away from videogame print media, bar the usual suspects (of which, let's face it, there are only two).
Quite depressing when you consider 90% of the market is pretty terrible.
I suppose that's why places like this have become that much more vital to gaming information/communication/impressions/discussions etc.

Call me mad but I actually like NOM. Most of the writers are quite funny and the free gifts are pretty good. Their editorial style changed about a year ago and the mag isn't too bad now. They cover imports and often have informative interviews with the Nintendo lot.
My heart goes out to the existing staff, they've really tried to make a great mag and now they'll be out of work.

I stopped buying mags when Zero went tits up. Anyone remember Alan P Thorpe, the fictional DJ?
Offical / unoffical specific system mags were bad then I thought. I've not bought one for ages, but multiformat seems to a way of encourging a less bias viewpoint. Even unoffical specific system mags unduly champion the system they focus on to re-enforce to the reader that they purchased the right machine (and thereby magazine).
