Anyway, in reference to the LG 26LX2R, since the new dash update, I've found runing the 360 in DVI-PC mode to be much more pleasing now. It used to be washed to such a degree that you were forced to use DVI-DTV, which overscanned badly. While the DVI-PC mode still looks like the brightness is up a tad too much, a comparison of FFXI on the 360 in DVI-PC mode to the PC game looks pretty much identical... so it's probably correct.

    My LG 26LX2R Settings -

    DVI-PC
    1280x720
    Contrast 100
    Brightness 40
    sRGB OFF
    CMS - User (Red 30, Blue 20 Green 20)
I actually copied this specs, and to my suprise, Everything looks briliant now! Thank you

Edit: I actually made my contrast 92 so I'm in teh middle between 85 and 100

I've been tweaking my settings too, based on other peoples suggestions. Contrast is now 92 and looking much better I'm still one who likes a decent amount of sharpness, but there's nothing that can be done about that.

You don't think the image over VGA is sharp enough? It's pin-sharp here, with no edge-enhancement.

Ditched the VGA cable I was using between the TV and swithcer, no more shadowing.... and much sharper image!

its your TV. Any resolution on my plasma looks great with VGA. No washed out colours no dark or brightness.

Nah I narrowed it down to the cable mate, my bad. Strange too as it's supposed to be a quality cable, but it added so much blurr and ghosting (them Belkin High Integriy ones eBuyer sell).
Though I do add that the DVI-D/VGA splitter Kevvy posted about earlier in the topic doesn't effect quality for me.
I suppose I'm too used to the sharpening added to the DVI-DTV setting on my TV too, which is disabled when my screen is set to DVI-PC.

Yea dude, its cool you got rid of the annoying shadows. I'm glad that there gone on my set and i'm 100% sure the splitter was the culperate for me.

One thing I've noticed about the sharpness with this set is that i don't think that the sharpness should be set to 0. I do this with every TV I have owned but in the case of this TV, I think it is going into Minus figures (i know a few TV's like Panasonic ones do this.)

The DVI-pc input doesn't let you change the sharpness but with the 360 set to 1280x720, you have free access to the controls on the DVI-DTV.

The DVI-DTV defaults to sharpness 50 which is the same level of sharpness as the PC input. If you turn the sharpness right done to 0 it looks really REALLy ****ing bad and soft as ****e.

I tend to use sharpness 50 as a starting point and turn it down to taste. I usually have it around 40-45 on the other inputs.

0 sharpness is not "no edge enhancement" 50 sharpness is. I think.

My VGA is really dark for some reason when I 'm running through my PC monitor, I gave up on it and have gone back to my normal TV until I can afford a new TV.

I think you are right, and would explain why other people here say Sharpness looks perfect at 0 for them on other screens. Unfortunately there is no access to the Sharpness setting on DVI-PC on this screen, and setting it on the screen in DTV mode onyl seems to effect the DTV mode.

That said, a actual PC looks fine on this screen in DVI-PC mode, which no problems with sharpness. Bizzare.

I have gotten used to the lack of sharpness, as it's a damn sight better than the overscanning the 360 displays when in DVI-DTV mode.

For other 26LX2R users, what settings are you using for AV1 please?

                      Geezer

I just use the default 100/45/50/50 and it looks quite lovely to me, though admittedly I only use my PS2 on this connection (since I think the official Sony Scart cable on this connection looks far better than 480i/576i Component on this screen).

                          With my freeview on AV2:

                          Contrast 55
                          Brightness 50
                          Colour 35
                          Sharpness 10
                          XD ON

With the 360 on DVI-PC, and the music viz on fullscreen, does anyone else get it a bit boxed out with the corners going a bit funny?

I guess it's too much to ask if anyone is using a Panasonic AE700 projector and a VGA cable with any sucess.... If so, what settings are you using...?

I've started using VGA over the last couple of days and it looks so much better on my LE26R41B that I can't believe I was on component for so long. Colours are more natural, there's loads less overscan (really noticeable on the dashboard and GRAW), the picture is a lot cleaner, and I can see a hell of a lot more in dark scenes. That last one really struck me in the Gears of War trailer with that shot of the little boy in the dark - on component it was a bit murky and crap, but I can see a lot of background detail through VGA. Plus there's the convenience of having my PS2 alone on component which means no fiddling around the back with my switch box.

My one complaint is that the screen position is slightly off, leaving about a centimetre of black space on the right side of the screen. Any ideas how I can correct this?

If you're using a Samsung, go to PC settings, reset the picture, then auto adjust. Sometimes auto adjust dosen't do it properly ( I had the same extra black to the right) which means you need to reset first.
