Plus fighters only have to render a small arena and 2 blokes, so that's a lot of polygons on only a few models. With comments like 'this is truly next gen' bandied about in the thread, i was expecting to see something special.
We're still a long way off photo realism on movie CG characters, and they have no limit on the number of polys etc.

Don't expect photo realism in games for many years yet.

It's not really about the polys, its the effects and textures applied. My point is tho, the graphics are nothing to get excited about, but at the start of the thread we had stuff like:

'Its STUNNING i couldnt belive it looked so good when i first started playing it. Not only does it look good tho it plays fantastic as well and with live play this is a real winner. It really is so close to photo realistic in my opinion.'

'The graphics are utterly outstanding. May well be the best looking game I've ever played. Wow.'

Love the game..gotta say I didn't think I would be impressed as my last boxing experience was back on the mega drive (Can't remember which game though) but the graphics are stunning..if the live play is lag free I can see this being a big hit..anyone had any nice knockouts yet early on? The gameplay also seems to require a degree of skill which is why I would love to give this a shot on live..beating a mate on this would be amazing. Roll on Feb/March!

I think you're in the minority then with your opinion of the graphics - can't see where you're coming from myself in terms of "photo-realism" I'd say it's one of the best examples I've ever seen.

Do you have any titles you'd like to hold up as better examples of the kind of "photo-realism" you were expecting from this ?

The point most people seem to have been making is that this 360 DEMO very closely matches what was shown as being trumpeted as showcasing the power of the PS3 at E3 last year. And boy does it.

Christ just got it and boy is it great, this is the first boxing game I've played since Knockout Kings and Ready to Rumble and damn is it good. The graphics are amazing and the whole gameplay mechanics are great.

I won my first match in a last round knockout but got completely hammered in the second.

You all have low graphic standards!

Well this took forever to download, which it really shouldn't have as I have a 10meg cable line.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

10 meg!!! Who are u with?

I think it will be a great system seller , put this in a few pods in stores and watch the crowds.

Took me 15 minutes to grab it on my 10meg line !!

I got it the morning it appeared right enough might have beat the rush

Took me 40 minutes on a 512k connection! couldn't believe how fast it is.

Anyway, it plays much the same as the other Fight Night games, except without any hud and obviously improved graphics. It does play well, though I still find it hard to actually play properly. It feels a bit random still...though when you connect a combo it is immensly satisfying.

I thought the general presentation of the demo was top notch, I even liked the music despite not liking the genre much.

Graphics are really good, can't wait to see how far the 360 can be pushed. I do agree with 1up when they say it is a shame this technology is being used in a boxing game, but it is still decent.

"We need a new name for game". wtf?

Are you sure it`s a 512k connection you`re on? Its a 400+MB file, on my 512k connection it took more than 2 Hrs.

Yeah I cannot get any faster because I live so far away from the exchange.

For some reason the download started at 50%, which is odd. (but unlike last night when I tried it didn't bomb-out after a few secondS).

I did fall asleep while downloading and lost track of time, so I guess it may not have been 40 minutes! Felt like it though.

Except Madden '06 strangely, which is a totally different game to MAdden '06 on the XBOX. In fact its probably the release with the biggest changes made to it since the franchise started (or went from 2D to 3D). Unfortunately the American Press hate it so it may well return to its earlier (and worse) roots.

Sorry to bring back a dead topic but I'm wondering if anyone else gets a weird line going a few inches up from the bottom of the screen which to me looked like dead pixels on my monitor.

However I've only noticed it in Fight Night but I sent my monitor back anyway and got a new one, strange thing is I notice the exact same line in the exact same place and only in Fight Night.

Oh its a really feint line and I didnt notice it until my second or third go, I'll try and take a pic if nobody knows what I meant.

Is the line in the middle? That's the only line I noticed, which I put it down to the demo as my screen is fine with everything else.
