Does anyone have a white one but wants a black one?

I have a uk PAL black one i received for my birthday but really want white

no dead pixels and immaculate condition (it's a week old)

No it isnt garunteed against dead pixels.and yes they are in full right to refuse a refund for a single dead pixel. Flat panel displays need so many per square inch to warrant a refund. IF a manager does replace or refund it is out of goodwill, they are not obliged to do it.They probably will as it is no benefit to them not to, but act all high and mighty with them about its your right to get a replacement for a dead pixel and they just will refuse as it isnt classe as a fault.

and no, 10 day policy only applies to console software.. never has applied to consoles unfortunately.They will how ever give a full refund if it is faulty ( this does not mean a dead pixel unless you get a goodwill exchange )

Under UK law, any product sold must be free of 'minor manufacturing faults'. Hence you could just go back and have it replaced under UK law. If you bought over the internet, you can just return within 7 days for a refund.

It's all pointless though, Nintendo recognise it as a fault and will replace it if you contact them directly.

I have both. Black is best. My white one is Jap, although has a couple of stuck pixels. Nintendo has said it'll replace it though.

What is the general consensus regarding Metroid Hunters? I am in two minds about this one as I tradtionally like FPS games, but some of the reviews have put me off, in regards to linear gameplay etc, or is the Wi-Fi action worth the entry price alone? Also, I will probably buy the JPN copy so does it have a ton of Japanese text, as I prefer games with plots to be in English?

It's good, excellent even. It suffers from the usual Metroid back tracking without having a clue where to go next more than usual however, as it's set on several planets; hence you might be looking on completely the wrong planet and stand zero chance of making progress.

That aside, it's great when progress actually is being made. The 3D is by far the best on the DS, a real technical triumph, and the music is superb. Control might be an issue for some, as it can produce some pretty fierce hand pain after a while. The left hand is used to hold the DS, use the dpad for movement, and hammer the L button to shoot.

The wi-fi stuff is very expansive. Lots of modes to try, but I never got that far due to hand pain. It's so fast and furious (far more than the SP game) it really does put excessive stress on the left hand. (and that's even playing it on a Lite)

As for text, there's not much. A few screens of nonsensical plot here and there. All the gameplay stuff is shown in camera cuts.

Thanks for that. I may pick up a used copy so if I dont like it, well, the damage won't be that bad.

Regarding the 'Lite, It's really has made me fall in love with games all over again. I got bored with my Xbox and decided that was it, no more for me but the DS has pulled me back in.

When I go to Bic Camera or similar, the majority of people milling around the DS section are tradtional non gamer types, the ones that Nintendo said were needed for the industry to grow. My 39 year old brother in law bought his first game last week. That's the power of touch! Bravo Nintendo.

It's become a social phenomenon here in Japan and if NCL can ride the DS wave with the Wii, they will be laughing all the way to the bank, and rightly so.

wonder if nintendo check the one they are sending you as a replacement before sending it back to you as brought one for game first one had a three dead white pixels the second had one right in the middle the third which currently i am keeping as it only has one near the bottom

Everything Kotatsu Said - agree!! Picked it up a few weeks ago along with my shiny new DS Lite and love them both to bits. Best implementation of the DS functions IMO and everything just controls so very well. The confrontations with the other Hunders are also really nicely done and the cut scenes are look pretty nice. Great full package and a must for any DS owner!!

I was well impressed the other day with my first shot of Dr Kawashima - the way they've turned it all on its side so you look at the DS in a "portrait" fashion rather than the usual "landscape" is inspired to say the least !

Wasn't too happy with my brain age though

I've got the brain of a 21 yr old! Although, it took a few days, was 71 first go!
I bought Big Brain academy today, seems pretty good fun also. Am loving the DS ever since the redesign. We need to get some AC loving going on, MK and some 4 player tetris!

I got down to 23 before I stopped playing regulary. My wife managed to get 20 on her second go..but that was her second test of the day so it didnt save, hasnt beable to do as well since, it really winds her up :P

Managed a A- in Big Brain but havent got close again, pfft.

It truly is a thing of beauty and the old one looks like it's fell from the ugly tree in comparison. I thought it looked alright before I had the lite!!

I'm becoming rather anal already about the amount of fingerprints on it so are there any tips people can give to limit this? What are people's preference on cases for it?

I have heard that it is possible to burn off your own fingerprints but haven't yet tried it.
