They've acknowledged a manufacturing fault with a small % of the units. The crack appears to be in the same place for these faulty units. I can't imagine nintendo will not honour this as a fault.

"In the U.S., the reported number of small cosmetic cracks in the plastic hinge of DS Lite systems represents less than 0.02 percent of the total units sold. This cosmetic issue in no way impacts the gameplay or integrity of the DS Lite. Nintendo stands behind the quality of our products and encourages DS Lite owners to contact our Customer Service Department if they are not happy with the functionality of their systems."

Just got my second black lite from Gameplay and it too has dead pixels...
Although Gameplay have been very professional I'm tempted to get a refund this time and just go to a shop and buy from there.
Anyone got any suggestions which shop I should take my custom to? I'm looking for a place in central London and obviously my main concern is dp's so I'd want a place that will allow me to check for them before handing over my cash.
Thoughts anyone?

regarding dead pixels just got a black one as it was all they had from gamestation in nottingham
they opened it up checked for dead pixels when i was happy i couldn't see any i brought it.
They said a lot of people were checking.
Shame they had a second hand white one no dead pixels but some idiot had scratched the top screen.
And the black one shows up the fingerprints all the time

I have what I think is a dead or at least partially stuck pixel on my top screen of my black DS Lite - just left of the middle of the screen.
Thing is I don't actually think it's a dead pixel, or at least a full dead one if that makes sense because you can only really see it on white backgrounds, and when games are moving you have to look really hard to see it. On a white background it shows up blue - quite a pale blue.
The other thing is when I got my original DS the first one had a couple of dead pixels and they were huge and really easy to see - and this one is so small in comparison.
I therefore think (could be well off here) that might like the problem that the GBA SP had when it first came out that rather than a dead pixel it's abit of glass or plastic or something stuck under the screen - my PSP has the same thing - it's not a DP as it looks like it's ontop of the screen rather than actually the screen itself - also one of my old SPs had the same thing too.
Thoughts?

Yeah that's what I was thinking!
My first DS has very clear obvious dead pixels - bright red ones, and blue and very clear to see - this one seems literally like 1/4 of the size of the dps on the old machine I had at first, and that's why I am thinking it's something under the screen rather than a technical problem as it were!
