Psychonauts - Please don't buy it..........yet

I've wanted to import this, by all accounts, superb game for months but all the usual importers have been and still are charging stupid prices. This is a 6 month old game being sold off in the bargain bins in the US for under $20.

Now it's finally arrived in the UK, at a discount start price: ?24.99 and I'm still not going to get it. Why? Because I know that in two to three months time I'm going to be able get it from Play.com or Amazon for up to ?10 less.

Psychonauts is not even in the Play.com most wanted top ten so it's barely selling even now. The price could drop with in weeks. I hate suggesting this sort of thing but money is money and I'm not going to give people who couldn't market water in the desert more than I absolutely have too.

Crazy idea. It's like people not buying We love Katamari for PAL machines stating it's too much. If you don't buy these games when they come out there is even less chance of publishers releasing other similar stuff in the future as they just point to these commercial failures and release another licenced product etc.

Support the games you want the industry to make.

I'm with Squirtle on this. For one thing, I don't pay my money for marketing, I pay for a great game. And I'll support great games designers even if they happen to hire useless marketing people. And it's not as if they are demanding ?45 for it at the moment...

This is going to be a big problem in the next gen - companies wanting to sell at high price to get their high development costs back and consumers used to paying low prices / used game prices for games this gen

Yeah, I know that's why I never buy games when they first come out because I know within a matter of weeks they'll be half, maybe even a quarter, their original RRP.

The reason we don't get games like Psychonauts in the first place is because all the types inclined to buy them are exactly the same people who import. I don't really know what to make of that - you could say 'to hell with everyone else, they probably wouldn't appreciate it', but on the other hand, it's a sorry state of affairs when the only new releases each week are WWII Sim 45 and Chav Racer Evolution 16. I suppose if nobody pushes the envelope out with leftfield releases it'll never expand.

They're going to have a hell of a job just recouping the costs of their pre-Xmas marketing campaign, which carpet-bombed SKY primetime for about 3 weeks. What a splendid **** up.

Regarding Psychonauts has anyone pre-ordered with Gameplay? I was looking forward to spending the weekend with this gem but as of yet it hasn't been shipped out.

I say buy psychonauts now, because you will absolutely fall in love with this amazing title. If people wait for it to fall into the bargain bin section then majesco wont bother releasing a sequel.

It's ?24.99 and better than any 360 game costing ?40.

I don't know how anyone (except those on a really tight budget, which I can understand) can whinge about paying ?24.99 for a lovely little slice of yummy funness, when big balls of crap routinely float about for more than that.

If only It was backwards compatible on 360, I can't bring myself to stoop as low as the PS2, I might have to invest in the PC version

****ing hell, as if it's not enough that a brand new game is released at ?25, you want to wait about for it on the possibilty that it'll be even cheaper? Lame. From the way everyone on here talks about it, you should be paying ?35 and not moaning about it.

That's a little optimistic, as that tends to only occur with large retail stocks, which won't happen with Psychonauts. ?15.99 is more likely.

A GAME preowned x2 for ?20 sticker, is what i'm waiting for.
