JibberX - Every review in the land can't be bought, but it probably works out in more subtle ways. Such as a publishing house being gently persuaded to lean more heavily on specific publications, that in turn will be pressured to show favourability in certain directions. Or editors and those within more senior positions of a magazine being bought for a periodic basis to keep watch on reviews for certain titles, to make sure a certain batch from a certain publisher/developer achieve a high score.
All this is subject to conjecture, but I can't believe that'd it would be plausible for 99% of most commercial coverage to be bought out on an individual basis. It's more likely those who have positions of power to influence specific sectors in a more wider and effective manner are helped to come to a decision through rather personal or politically beneficial means.
