Animal Crossing Trading Thread

Hi all!

Had the US version of this just sat there gathering dust for the past few months (too... many... games!). Love to get into it though and now looks a decent time.

Can someone confirm that trading's still possible between US and UK versions?
Or will I need to snag the UK release?

The European Animal Crossing site has a neat freebie - Punchout! Not sure if this is even in the other versions or not, but best get it while you can.

Thought I'd bump this with a query.

I'm having trouble growing foreign fruit in my village. Any trees I plant (either in the village or on my island) simply disappear after a few days. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone advise?

You need to try to plant new trees in open space. They grow better if there isnt another thing right next to them.

Try to find a large piece of open space and plant a few foreign fruit every other space making sure there is 1 space around them in all directions.

I had much more success with growing trees planted like this.

Palm trees only grow in the bottom squares of your village. Make sure when you plant a tree, all nine squares around it are clear.

I love this game. One of my favourites of all time, and one of the most innovative I've ever played. Get a warm feeling playing it.

Any news on the sequel? (not the DS version) I remember reading it was originally a 90% female development team, and Nintendo were half arsed about supporting them, not really 'getting' it. Once it came out and did so well, Nintendo started taking them very seriously as another franchaise was born.

Since then it's gone very quiet.

Guaranteed tree growth (well, it's worked for me 100% of the time) - cut down any existing tree (ones that don't already grow fruit are recommended), then dig up the stump & plant your fruit there.

Neat. New game code on the Nintendo Animal Crossing site - Donkey Kong 3. Never even played it before, but any NES game is worth it to add to my collection.

Had a job getting Punchout working, especially with my character's name being messed up (2 spaces to begin with, which I'm now thinking is a bug caused by resetting ingame. I've heard about Mr Resetti messing up some people's games). Managed in the end though. Not starting a new character though, I've come too far.

I keep forgetting about KK, i've only met him a few times since i had the game. Also keep forgetting to play early on Sundays - will never win the Fishing Tourney at this rate, and it's the last one this Sunday.
