Sure, tho looking at the PS2 DVD (LOL_LOL) is the Bluray gonna be any good if the console is kept to a budget?

My point is ill be buying it as a console, the bluray feature isn't much of a pull because most likely it will be lame-o-tron.

I'll probably end up with one but I probably won't go for one at launch - I'll be getting a Rev at launch and will have the 360 which will be getting into it's stride by then - I'll pick up a PS3 once the mind-blowing new GTA or something surfaces.

I'll get one at launch, see if the variety of games is worth keeping it for, if not then simply flog on ebay, and buy it at a later date.

the blu ray is going to be useless. Just like the ps2 was for dvd's. The ps3 is going to be another yawnathon, nothing there that will ever interest me, the reason why i got a jap ps2 this year is because of the amount of shooters and 2D fighters were too much to ignore, i can't see the ps3 being the same especially considering sony's stance towards anything 2D. I can say i'm 99% certain the ps3 will never get a chance to grace the space underneath my tele.

The PS2 DVD drive wasn't useless when compared next to VHS though, and for many people it was their first DVD so the better performance was easily justified.

Likewise, I don't expect the Blu-Ray in the PS3 to rival the ?1,000 players, but it should look better than DVD. If you can't afford a ?1,000 player now, but want to start inesting in Blu-Ray, a PS3 would be a good choice.

Aye, I imagine there'll be loads of 2D stuff coming out on the other two

It's the only DVD player I've ever had... until I got the xbox which I use now because of XBMC, but despite that I still think the PS2 was the better player. The xbox screws up the subtitles on loads of discs.

thats not the point i was trying to make though, the only reason i bought a ps2 was because of its 2D offerings, because other than that there was nothing there to interest me. While the 360 gets the likes of oblivion and support from lionhead, the revolution has the possibility of some great nintendo titles, i don't see anything that the ps3 will offer me, GT5?, killzone 2?, MGS4?, *yawn* i'm falling to sleep even thinking about them. If theres nothing much in the way of traditional 2D games then sony can stick their ps3 where the sun don't shine

I'm buying the PS3 over the other consoles because it's the best supported from publishers/developers. I was thinking of a 360, but the Japanese support just isn't there and i do love my Japanese developed games, so that system is off my list. Plus if Oblivion ends up like Morrowind, it can keep it. As for the Revolution, i've promised myself NEVER to buy another Nintendo system again after the Gamecube, plus the fact i'm fed up of playing Mario & Co every generation on there systems.

You could say well why not buy all the systems? Well i'm not 15 anymore, don't have the time to play 3 systems and i need to work. Plus i've found if you stick with one system your likely to enjoy it more, plus it's cheaper.

I'll buy the PS3. You have to have all consoles plus a beefy PC, otherwise you might miss a great game!

That was a sad state of affairs when I was a skint student, but no need for that these days.

The bigger question is, will I get the time to play the PS3*?

                        I hope so!

                        /C_S

                        * Along with the 360, Revolution & looking after a bounding 2 year old and holding down a job and Diving every week, and stuff.

I have to buy a PS3 in order to play DMC 4, so yes.

i'll be grabbing a revolution first though, if only so i can dance around the living room whilst shooting people in the face with my imaginary sniper rifle (and you best believe i'll be holding it like a gun). XD
Four standard controllers, a mobile, a PSP and a headset.

If you 100 different FPS games then buy an Xbox 360.

But if you want diversity than wait for the other consoles...
You realise there's a total of THREE FPSs on the 360 at the moment? Silly argument. It has had the most diverse launch - it has Live Arcade and a superb dashboard system, it's not just an original Xbox with enhanced graphics. I can't wait to see what Sony do (just the same as last time, a PS2 with nicer graphics rolflflzlzz!).
