    OK... where to start...

Beatmania IIDX is the best and possibly one of the most difficult games to master.
Mario Kart 64 I prefered to Mario Kart Advance (and obviously DD).
    ALL EA sports games suck.
Soul Calibur II is as good as SC.
Square's best franchise is Seiken Densetsu.
Having strikers in KOF is a nice addition. (e.g. KOF2000)
Initial D is the best arcade racer around.
Old skool LucasArts point and clicks are never gonna be topped (in there genre).
People who play beat em ups with controllers rather than sticks should not be allowed to call themselves good!

Thats all i can think of atm ...

    Chars,
    Luke.

I fully agree with that. There are a couple of decent games on the system like JSRF, but they aren't quite up to the quality standard set by Orta and other games on other consoles.

My picks aren't any fun, because I'm not embarrassed by them.

Most people have never even heard of SNK, so it's not exactly 'going against the grain', but: I really, really hate SNK. All of their games are tepid, cookie-cutter garbage. Except for Metal Slug and to some extent Samurai Showdown, which are saved by their personality.

AM2 is the singlemost overrated developer of all time. All their games are boring and unimaginative. They could have been made by factory robots.

The GBA is the system of the year.

Silent Hill 2 is a terrible game, and the worst game I have played this generation after Kingdom Hearts.

          Eyetoy is garbage.

Prince of Persia is incredibly overrated. Beyond Good and Evil is way better.

          That's pretty much it.

            Erm... for me.

Knights of the Old Republic - Boredom personified and massively over-rated IMO.

Final Fantasy VII - I've tried playing this a number of times and each time I found myself getting bored with it. Besides, I'm enjoying X-2 loads more.

            That's about it I think.

MGS: this game had high potential. Big letdowns: 1) all clues are handed to you. 2) Running around in circles for half an hour trying to shoot revolver Ocelot (or any other sub-boss for which you have to to the same repetitive thing). On the shelf.

Mario kart 64: sucks big time, even multiplayer. Such a nice concept, lousy execution. Haven't played double dash yet.

Ridge Racer type 4: far too easy. Rage racer was da bomb, even though I've never been able to perform a decent skid turn.

1080 degree snowboaring on the n64: very average game

wipeout 2097 played with a negcon, what a blast. If only it had a 60 fps framerate.

wave race 64: awesome game, underrated, but I guess not by people tat have played it.

Mario Tennis 64: one of the best mulitplayer games out there. I don't think its regarded a such though.

Kula world on the ps1: a truely magnificent game

Starfox Adventures is one of the best games of this generation and suffered horribly from having the Starfox brand bolted on to a game that did not need it. I prefer to ignore the clearly afterthought parts and enjoy the locations. It also has the best soundtrack of any game on the GC.

Wario Wario is very overrated and does get very boring very quickly.

EA do make so pretty good games actually. I have enjoyed FIFA, Harry Potter and Freedom Fighters this generation.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit is a horribly souless racing game with a broken driving system and a complete lack of excitement during the races.

The streets are narrower, the traffic is a lot denser and the risk of crashing it a lot higher. It also is a lot more difficult to win the races than in the sequel. The only thing Burnout 2 improved on was the car exploding on impact in a crash whereas in the original it simply crumpled.

That OOT and Majoras Mask were both more compelling and memorable than Windwaker.

Mario Golf is not all that its cracked out to be. Infact it gets very old quickly as does F-Zero and Soul Calibur.

Neither of those games did I finish and I regret buying them.

                      007 Nightfire is ****. okay? It's just ****.

Halo is real and its FUN.

Splinter Cell was atmospheric but ultimately dull, linear and predictable in the gameplay dept. Knock a guard out, hide him wash rinse repeat until you get to the end. Yawn. It's good but vastly overrated because of his moves.

I don't see the excitement in GTA Vice City. Boring.

What Manta ray said. Prince of Persia is overrated too. Beyond Good and Evil deserves the spotlight. I love Mr Ancel and his imagination.

Rare could learn a thing or two from him aswell.

I LIKED Raiden's personality in MGS2. One of the more memorable characters I've played as along with Mona from Max Payne 2 of course. Oh mona..

Most original, charming and intriguing characters of 2003..

JADE from Beyond Good and Evil and George and Nico from Broken Sword 3.

Biggest letdown.. LINK. I hate his new look and can't relate to it at all. Please bring the old one back Miyamoto before I kill you.

                        FF6 is better than FF7.
Secret of Mana is much better than Chrono Cross.
RTCW (pc) is the best team based fps ever made.
Perfect Dark is better in single player than GE, but not in multiplay.
Majora's Mask is better than OoT.
                        The GBA sp is horrible.
NWN is only fun when played with other ppl.
Apart from Tie Fighter, KOTOR is the only good use of the star wars liscence in a video game (Galaxies sux balls)

PS-2 Online gaming is fantastic despite what many folks say here.
Halo - great game but not as good as the hype and certainly been done a large number of times on the PC before.
Ikaruga - just didn't get this title
                              DOAXBV - total nonsense

If I were going to find out why, which games would I start with? I've not bothered buying a PS2 modem because I've not seen anything that appealed to me as an XBox and PC owner who would be grateful to never see another squad-based online shooter again.

As for my contrary viewpoints, I've never played an RPG that didn't bore me to both tears and uninstallation within the first hour, and also think that Orta doesn't look or play as nice as Rez, which was somewhat of a disappointment when I bought an XBox for it.
