My point is the choice on offer limits the scope and audience/participants for the tournement. Why settle for less when you could have so much more?

In any case, best of luck with it Steve, hope it's a good one!
Cheers! Just one thing though, if it was a beat em up only tournament, then I would put on the two most popular fighter out of the street fighter series, which is SF Alpha 3 and SF3 3rd Strike.

Halo, much like GoldenEye has a big following, even if it is for the Xbox. And football is England's first loved sport. two of which would be a mistake if left out.

I simply dont want a repeat of the GameStars competition, which I frankly wish they'd did differently. one round of Tekken 4... and a time attack on Crash? yeah ok...

If I had my choice of games, I would include Saturn Bomberman...

It's a bit of a journey but there is a chance I'll be off work at the start of July anyway so I going to try to come down to the big smoke to see this in action.

3 beat em ups out of five may seem excessive to some, but watching games like Soul Calibur 2 and VF4Evo being played to a high standard is truely something else. If anything, surely this event is simply a testbed for the potential of something similar but on a larger scale.

Certainly I look forward to checking out (anyone know any good, cheapish hotels nearby to the event?)

Not really. Rooms can cost between ?50 - ?120 depending on where you go. TravelLodge in Battersea cost ?70 a night and its three stops away from the train station to Waterloo. There are small hotels in Pimilico, Earls Court, one in Piccadilly Circus.

ya probably better off getting there by train at around noon in London and then leave the venue at around 6pm to go home by 10PM???

(psst. C'. there's an LSE hall, Carr-Saunders hall, nearby. It's down the opposite end of charlotte street to Game Focus, on Fitzroy street. Very near. Very cheap - ?22.50/night, I believe. Open to the public now us smelly students are beginning to move out)

just to say, I intend to pop along to this as a 'spectator', my vf skills aren't upto scratch.

might play a bit more sc2 between then and now though

I'll probably pop along to this as a spectator as well, not particularly good at any of the listed games myself . Hope to see some good match ups if people from this board are competing.

Play anyway, cause you'll likely to get better if you play against good players rather than playing at home against a computer/AI controlled character. You'll then be able to find ways to counter or block moves that your opponents do all the time.

If you are spectating, please come early, as I can not guarrantee your entry into the event after 1PM, which is why its better to enter and have a few go's.

Is the format going to be the same as the BK events? Get a card with your name give it to the ref, wait your turn and winner stays on? And can you get in que for more than 1 game like you could at the BK events?

Do you have to play all the games or can you just compete in a couple?

Only asking as, like Papercut said, my VF skills aren't good either.

I would like to play Halo and SC2 though.

                          I'll be there. For evo

Exactly how many people are going at the mo? People who feel that their skills aren't good (me included) should come along and look at it as a practice session, you got to start playing human opponents if you want to be good.

Listen to this man. Truth he speaks!

I'm going for SC2 mainly as I've been playing that alot with my Bro. Should have brushed up on my VF4Evo skills by the date of this compo too!

Everyone should get down there for a practice session. I don't think I'm anywhere near tournament standard, but hey, if I don't go I'll never know if I am, or close or what!

                              It'll be FUN!
