Best Gaming Series - Your Thoughts

I was bored so I'd thought I'd start this up, sorry if has already been done

So what is everyones favourite gaming series (good points, bad points etc)? Final Fantasy? Resident Evil? Silent Hill? Mario Kart? (lol) Metal Gear Solid? Zelda? Metroid? Pro Evo?

Anything that comes to mind, post it up and share your views guys!

I recently purchased all the games in the Silent Hill and Resident Evil series, I wanted to relive the terror I felt while playing the first Resident Evil and the chillingness (not a word, lol) I felt when I played Silent Hill 2.

My favourite gaming series though has to be Metal Gear Solid. The first one revolutionised the face of gaming as we see it, although some would say the 2nd one was poor I still think it's a quality game in it's own right and for Snake Eater, well....it's simply Kojima at his wonderful best....the story and the gameplay brought together with stunning effect.

My personal fav is Castlevania its the only series i have a total mint collection of even a couple of games i dont have the consoles to play them on.

Ooh some good posts here. I'd have to go for MGS series because its the best cinematic experience in a game ever.

Street Fighter series - Everybody must have a Street Fighter game or two in their collection! I mean c'mon, this series is legendary!

Virtua Fighter series - With every new installment in this series, Sega-AM2 set new standards in terms of graphics, character balance, depth, and overall quality of the gameplay system. Roll on Virtua fighter 5......

I love Sonic games, and Mario games. Zeldas are awesome too.

Dunno about my favourite ever though.

While I've had my phases, Metroids have always felt relevant.

Metal Gear has been a blast as well, even if I don't know what they're on about half the time, though I've enjoyed not knowing
