It pauses the download every time the game connects to Xbox Live to share data. So in Rainbow Six the downloads pause when you go into the Xbox Live menu. In Halo it pauses when you hit the front end because you are permanently in a lobby. To fix this, switch your campaign lobby to local and the downloads start again.

So you can't disable it as certain games need to access Live all the time you are playing.

Most games are clever enough though that they online stop it when, say, you select multiplayer or online options from the menu otherwise they'll keep going.

There are supposed issues with some games though (especially ones like Crackdown and Gears that are supposed to be "online all the time") - although I can't say I've ever noticed myself.

PGR3 is another one that takes over your connection

God damn the size of PGR4, anyone know if it takes a long time to download?

Mine's at 28% after half an hour and, though my connection is rather temperamental, given the demo's probable popularity I expect it will take most folk a while to download.

Just out of interest, how come the XBL releases are out today?

                  Comment

It's only a couple of bits, XBLA games will be out tomorrow as per normal.

Blimey PGR4 demo is amazing! It's a massive step up from PGR3 - looks wise and the cars seems to grip a lot better. It even has it's own XBL leaderboards for the demo!

1h30 to download here (8mb). Get in!

The US Marketplace works quicker than the UK one; all the assets load quicker and it seems more responsive in general. Strange.

                            Mine took 20 minutes. Yay!!!

                            It's a bit good, innit???

Aye, 'tis good, and the bikes in particular really spice things up. Kinda wish there were a few brighter tracks in the demo mind as I don't like all the rain, snow and fog, the latter in particular looks terrible and, though it obviously isn't, looks like the result of a terrible draw distance as opposed to a weather effect.

Yeah I like the leaderboards, wish they had done that with Sega Rally as well.
