After buying my first PAL console for 15 years (a 360), it's really nice being able to simply walk into a shop and buy a cheap second hand game, or order a game online and have it delivered the nect day, or even just to rent games.

I also agree wholeheartedly with regards to the 360, but feel that MS entered into it purposely and have ensured an indenticle launch world wide, where as both Sony and Nintendo have been forced into it due to the approach which MS have taken, and I'm less confident that either of them will pull it off with the same success.

If the UK Wii is confirmed at 480P then I will not import, that is the only thing which is concerning me atm, and is only currently speculation.

A N64 game on the virtual console is actually going to cost ?7 for us, surely just a little overpriced?

And the price of the controllers isn't looking too consumer friendly either.

Not pleased with Nintendo's treatment of Europe, as always, but I guess it's been worse before.

How much **** have people bought on XBLA though, and they are generally small games, with some of them being very poor indeed. I'll happily pay ?7 or whatever Mario 64, Waverace 64 and Zelda 64, and so on. Take into account how big and great these games are compared to what is available on Marketplace (with the exception of a couple).

They don't have a great rep because of a fiasco with 360 preorders, but you should be alright with the Wii I reckon.

Play.com are okay, they're not the fastest at dispatching stuff (it all comes from Jersey, 2nd class post) but sometimes you get lucky. I think they took in a lot more pre-orders than they could handle (like everyone else) for the 360 release, and had to disappoint people. On the rare couple of occassions I've had problems with something they've sent me, they've replaced it no questions asked. They have great customer service, in my opinion.

Pre ordered a 360 2 accessories and 2 games from play immediately that full price preorders went live. Out of all of this I received one game on launch day, and everything else was just shown as out of stock. Others who ordered one day before launch received everything they ordered, which made it seem to be a complete lottery rather than an organised preorder-system with them !

People bought **** on XBLA, but having said that, every game has had some form of enhancement with online multiplayer being the best one (Gauntlet, Smash TV, Street Fighter 2 etc etc.) or some form of competitive leaderboard.

I'd pay ?7 for online Goldeneye, but that ain't gonna happen - Virtual Console looks like it's just going to be a load of emulated games.

As for the price at ?180 with a game i say thats pretty sweet deal in terms of todays prices. I mean prices for new hardware these days (console wise) are always 200+ on launch, so this is hardly gonna dent yah wallet are they?

Yeah but this isn't a 'next gen' machine it's just slighty improved GC.

Definitely, if the games are enhanced then i'll pay but likewise I really don't see that happening. Online secret of mana would be fantastic though and well worth ?5.

Otherwise, i'll buy the originals.

I think the days of waiting months for Nintendo PAL products are over. We'll still see Japanese exclusive titles like on the DS, but a US console won't help you any more than a UK model.

I don't know, I'll believe it when I see it. They're still taking their time with a lot of DS releases, so I'm not convinced they're suddenly going to get better with the Wii.

I'll be interested to see what the 60Hz support is like, too. Will the front end and broswer and whatnot be PAL only on an EU model, for instance?

I'll still be getting one (import) but it does seem that, once again, the UK is ripped off - ?7 for an N64 game that's not going to be enhanced in any way is ridiculous by any standard.

Bugger Gamestation, they couldn't manage me a 360 and I was no.5 on the list.

When they start taking them I'd say Dixons/Currys online will be a good bet, they did well at 360 launch. (Forced bundles though, but still decent value)
