You can read this article both ways. There's as much positive as there is negative, and I've seen BBC articles which are cautiously optomistic about the Wii too.

Yes, my face is red. Although I'm by no means a die-hard Nintendo fan, after the likes of "Outrageous Fortunes", BBC's "Fisher Price" comment didn't exactly impress me.
So no, I'd have to agree that it's definitely not worth the fuss I made over it in the first post where I was misreading it.
Even still though, I'd have to say it's some pretty shoddy journalism and there's still their Sony-leaning in there.

Lol, I love it when these people write about games and hardware and they clearly do not have a clue.
I must admit the re-design of the DS did come a little fast for the EU market regardless of "you dont have to buy it" arguments. Us importers had it miles before anyone else so I guess it doesnt seem that much of a big deal, plus its cheap enough.
The funny thing is I still prefer my SP design to all the handhelds currently available. I'd love the screen technology of the DS on a SP sized machine.
I think it goes without saying when people write articles on something you are pationate about its very easy to see if they know their stuff.

I'm not quite sure where the "BBC in anti-nintendo bias" headline comes from...

Well it won't burn your eyes out - which the Lite will do while playing GBA games. GBA games really weren't designed to be played on a screen with such hot colours. I haven't seen the backlit SP screen first hand but, if it's anything like the Micro screen, it will be far more suitable for GBA games than the Lite.

The picture of the DS Lite to the right of a stock "Fisher Price" comment made me think they were actually talking about the Lite, rather than the old DS (which I've always thought was ugly).
I have to say it does come across as a bit of a "lads mag" review even when you are reading it properly. But no, now that I've read it through it's certainly not headline news!Last edited by Lyris; 26-06-2006, 15:27.

I'm not trying to be funny, but what was so wrong about that article?

I've read BBC style sheets and I'm pretty sure using qualifying adjectives like 'only', 'just' and 'mere' which humble or degrade are a no-no. A sentence like 'ten people turned up at the meeting' is fact but when you write 'only ten people' you're expressing an opinion, which isn't what the BBC is supposed to be about. I hope their editor hits them with a big stick!
