I've always upgraded my PC for as long as I can remember, in order to play games. But no longer... I've finally come to the conclusion that although I can get games to look a bit better on the PC, its just not worth the expense or the hassle for me any more. A big reason for this is the 360 and how well its running stuff like Oblivion. OK, so I could put a new gfx card in my PC and the games might look visually better, but to a degree which warrants the purchase of a new gfx card? I doubt it.

I even prefer Live for MP stuff now, its nice to have a consistent interface and built-in voice support etc. Maybe I'm just getting old and my priorities are changing, but I am tired of upgrading my PC and just don't see the point any more.

I take it you completely missed the huge fuss made about Quake III Arena and the fact that you could play it online then? :P

Pc ports don't bother me on the 360 as I can't be arsed with the fussing around that you have to do with PC games to get them running as well as I'd like.

This is an odd topic, the way you are talking about it makes it seem like that for every PC port on the 360 that is released, an exclusive game dies and is denied existance on the format.

The 360 is quickly turning into little more than PC Lite and is just highlighting how sterile the worst parts of todays industry are, Its nothing more than a chart machine with a couple of token gestures. It's specialising in western software because thats all that the majority of owners expect from it and have total apathy towards anything that doesn't sit in an incredibly shallow pool of genres that are expected to give a certain sales return each time.

Plus this new games journalism effect where people look only at whats considered to be a big hitter (or whatever moronic term) is creating an economy which doesn't support small and independant developers who want to try something new. And anyone who says Xbox Live as some kind of comeback really isn't able to look at anything objectively as the main stay so far is a couple of developers (US again) who have blatantly stolen ideas already available from certain developers who could do with the support themselves.
Kron we all get the point already you dont like the 360. Every single topic about the 360 you feel the need to post loads of crap.

Its specialising in western titles, even tho there are loads of titles now being made by Japanease devs like Project Sylpheed, Trusty Bell, Blue Dragon, Vampires Rain.

"majority of owners expect from it and have total apathy towards anything that doesn't sit in an incredibly shallow pool of genres that are expected to give a certain sales return each time."

I think the now large amount of 360 owners on these boards would disagree with that stupid statement.

"doesn't support small and independant developers "

Disregarding the PC market for a moment which on the whole is much cheaper to produce games for using game engines that can be purchased ready made. Would you say Sony and Nintendo do as much as MS have done, yes there isnt a massive amount of games on XBLA yet by indy devs but the list is growing with Hoop World, Small Arms, Castle Crashers and Mad Tracks. You talk about at as if there are other games companies out there providing masses of support for smaller devs, which clearly isnt true.

I personally think you post Anti 360 stuff just for the sake of it without even thinking about what your posting.

I would say Nintendo are doing as much as Microsoft with the Virtual console and the cheap to develop for DS

But I thought the virtual console was just to play back catalogue games owned by the big players not to support indies

For me after playing loads of games on both mediums I prefer the PC twiddle and fiddle side of things as I can mould games around my tastes with mods and extras that you'd never normally get on a console. The life expectancy of a game surely has to be longer on the PC compared to a console version too.
