Well when i went on holiday and in the airport i saw a premium xbox 360 for 450 euros that was just to much

But then i see it on play-asia for $ 399.90 (about 330 euros) it does make me think

i do wonder why there was not a uproar that in japan there getting much cheaper then in europe or america

I got my Japanese 360 back in December last year. I missed out on the PAL machine at launch and I couldn't be arsed to wait a couple of months for them to get back in stock, so I just ordered a Japanese 360 from Lik Sang along with a copy of RR6 After the import duty it only came to about ?20 more than if I'd been able to buy a PAL 360 at launch (and I don't think RR6 was available at launch over here either).

So far I've been very happy with it. Being able to buy the Asian version of a game is an absolute god send! Oblivion, GRAW and Project Gotham 3 for under ?70? Yes please! And I have to give a lot of credit to Microsoft for making Xbox Live "region free". It would have been very easy for them to put in some kind of check to stop you using a UK account on a Japanese 360, but they didn't, so well done to them.

If I had a choice now, I'd go for an Asian 360 (so I wouldn't have to use the big stepdown that I currently have hiding behind my TV cabinet) but they weren't out when I ordered my Japanese machine in Dec, so I had no choice

Did see the asian version of the x360 and that did appeal but does it run all japanese version games?

As far as I know, the Asian 360 is basically a Japanese 360 but with a UK style power supply, so it plays all NTSC-J games. I don't think there are any differences apart from that but I'm sure someone will correct me if there are

You can use a uk powersupply with the jp 360. Just need to find one to buy as ms dont seem to like to sell them.

Geezer was saying in the other thread, they do but at a cost of 119 euros, which is taking the piss to be honest.

It is that, a good stepdown is like ?30.

Not worth the money, especially when you can hide a stepdown behind a tv cabinet etc.. I can't believe the people on eBay who are buying them for ?50 - ?70 a pop.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a japanese system, but my biggest concern is that if something goes wrong with it i'm knackered.

So can I transfer the hard drive back and forth between my PAL and JPN systems with no issues? I'm hovering over the buy button for a JPN system, I will probably sell the JPN HDD when it arrives as I only need the one.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work mate, although I find flitting between machines can be a pain since you need to recover your tag each time you switch.

I'm also thinking about getting an Asian 360 (in addition to my PAL one). Would a profile saved to a memory card get rid of the need to keep recovering the gamer tag when using different machines?

I got a Japanese XBox 360 (?150 all in, including the transformer and an NTSC/PAL TV converter... which I never needed)... I like it.. my only problem is that Pro Evo for the XBox doesn't work as that isn't region free and there's no Table Tennis... oh and Quake II doesn't work either

But apart from that, all the games I've bought have been ~?23 (except Halo 1 and Fable which cost ?10 for both).

I know it's going to be different for every system, but I've used my Japanese 360 nearly every day since December 2005 and haven't had any problems yet. Just the occasional freeze (maybe once a month) but only with games that freeze on everyone elses systems too. All in all it's been very reliable. Although I do realise I've probably just jinxed myself

That was a bit of a downer at first, but luckily it's not long now until the 360 version of Winning 11 ten is out
