Originally posted by ConceptTruth is I feel distant from gaming, and though I see it as my main hobby I feel as though it's out-growing me or I'm out-growing it. Things will hopefully change though.
I have no desire to play videogames at all at the moment.
In fact i haven't played any game on any platform since early April. Thats nearly 4 months without gaming.

Dave I bet when it comes time to move to China you'll find you're not as fed up of games as you think you are.. it's been like amputating a limb for me trying to get rid of my stuff, I keep coming up with vague notions to take at least my GC with me when I go overseas but it's silly to even consider it.. the PSP is going to be the sum total of what I have left, luckily that means Outrun 2!

I'm going through that bored phase at the moment, but I'm just putting it down to the Summer drought, there is nothing around at the moment that interests me. Of all the arcade releases on Live the only one even worth considering is SF2, hell there are only 5/6 games on Live that I actually think are worth playing full stop. It hasn't helped that one of the biggest summer releases, Prey, turned out to be a damp squid.
My biggest regret at the moment is having not purchased a Japanese 360, I can't wait to get my grubby mits on Senko No Ronde, Project Sylpheed and Bullet Witch. But that's not looking too likely less MS pull their figure from their arse and I'm not in a position to purchase another one just yet.
But I guess I'm part of my own problem because I have the attention span of a gnat, so once a game has been rinsed I loose almost all interest in it until the next release comes along. Live helps draw out the experience for longer on a few titles and a couple get resurrected every now and then (ala Halo 2), but generally I can't dedicate my time to one game, which is particularly bad during a drought.
Still, Lost Planet, Dead Rising and Test Drive () aren't too far off and I've been using my free time to watch stupid amounts of anime

I'm 19 but I can relate (partially) to what's been said.
I don't feel that same 'buzz' with a lot of this generation's games than I have done with games of past gens - I get more hyped with games on the Dreamcast than I do with the majority of releases on the Xbox 360.
Though saying that, i'm currently buzzing for Senko no Ronde.

Dave you are getting old, and as you get older your taste becomes more refined and selective, you become harder to please, you become easily bored and quickly frustrated and more jaded by the day as youve literally 'seen it all before'. You can see through all the ridiculous claims and hype prior to a game launch, and become far less excited about it because of this. You will take everything witha pinch of salt and become very cynical about gaming in general. Welcome to becoming a grandaddy-gamer.
The one good thing is that you will find you appreciate quality more than before, and will spend more time on one game than when you was young which was all about whoring your games-time around.Last edited by marcus; 31-07-2006, 12:16.

I somewhat disagree with the seen it all before comment, I think secretly many of us would like to see a continuation of what we've had over the previous 16 years and the golden generation of arcades.
The only large companies that seem to be making 'traditional videogames' anymore are Capcom and Nintendo.
