boo i don't need your pity!

j/k it's a beast to finish, even more difficult after a lot of online play as i find my brain gets used to the laggy timing meaning i mis-time *everything*

i use the analogue if i want to do zangief's spinning piledriver. i just can't manage it on the pad. the number of ppl i've played online who, when i'm dizzy, walk up to me then jump straight up and do a soft punch tells me i'm not alone

Yeah, that'll be me. Although I've found doing a swift rub across bottom of dpad (right to left), followed swiftly by a rub across the top (left to right) seems to work for me.

haha i guess once you figure it out then that's that. i couldn't do it for years as i'd press punch when the pad got to the top-left, as i just assumed he'd jump if i carried on till the up position, then one day decided to circle it until i reached up and pressed punch, and lo and behold it worked!

then recently i found out you can do the same movement on either side of your opponent, whereas in the past i had been mirroring it if i was on the right side...

I dont know why I did this, but I bought the full game today, knowing already that its impossible to play properly with that totally useless pad :/

Why do I do these things.

actually it's just fine with the pad. you just need to get used to it's nuances. personally my only gripe is the four face buttons, meaning i never use mediums. ever.

just give it a while and it'll be ok. i've played a few people and i can tell they can't get the moves out (e.g. ken will duck and then go forward and start light punching ), but i've never had a problem.

my trick? i'm just not that good at streetfighter! i don't know any combos or anything like that - the sorts of things that cause the hardened sf guru to become emotionally attached to a single input device in the strive for combo perfection - i just know all the moves, and i've played it on lots of different consoles, etc (including keyboard on the pc), so the 360 pad was just another one i had to get used to it.

                              and boy, have i

i've played people who are stupidly, stupidly good, but only if they're using a certain stick or pad, which ruins the fun if these perfect conditions aren't met (i.e. they're round your house).

seriously man. i've spent ages trying to convince phillai to just try using the pad but he refuses even though his doa stick is bruck up, so as a result is not playing ANY sf whatsoever. it's madness, i tell you. pure madness.

just go for it! you've got nothing to lose - just do player matches/quarter matches while you get used to it. so what if your ass gets kicked a few times?

of course this entire post is rendered useless if you're stuck with an actually dodgy d-pad

I can barely pull off a fireball with any regularity. The pad is so horribly rigid, its frustrating as in all of the fights Ive had so far I feel I could of won had I of been able to use the pad at all. Ill stick with it for a bit but it is really frustrating. I just encountered a Honda hand slapper for the first time, its pretty lame way to play, and not being able to use projectiles at him made it even worse.

Why are MS able to make such a great pad in all other areas, yet (twice now) are totally inept when it comes to making a decent D-Pad?
