played this guy in a quarter match (i was ken he was guile) and after i beat him he msgd me 'have fun being cheap' so i said 'from the guy who follows his sonic booms...'

after a few more exchanges he sent a friend request as i promised not to be ken

he's beating me now cos i'm choosing people like chun li and stuff

What is cheap tho? Using one or 2 moves only? I'd say the honda slapping til you drop is cheap as the guy slapping probably has no skill. I personally find with my Zangief I'm limited to a certain style when playing the like of ken/ryu. Lariats, cross-ups, flying HP or down LK, rapid LP and Piledriver.... well that's not a bad amount of moves to be getting on with.
I dunno Billy, just ignore thme losers

while i was taken aback, i was quite chuffed that he was taking notes!

i don't think that's cheap - it's using moves on people who do stuff. someone jumps, i dragon. simple as. what else should i do? kick? block? spaz out? what?

but he's pretty cool. last match he was zangief i was vega, and i did the wall dive and he did that straight-up hit that made me dizzy and won.

in all honesty, i avoided repeating certain moves on purpose so he wouldn't cry.

personally, if someone's getting cheap on me i just keep trying until i sort them out. i much prefer beating cheap-ass players (who are actually good) than beating people who aren't cheap (and are not as good as me).

Most stuff people call "cheap" is easy to beat - constant hand slapping, bison psycho crushers, etc. The only stuff that gets me a little is the throw stuff, that all seems a little unfair, though i don't know much about it myself. That's probably why it seems off to me - I don't know how to stop it

Aaaah the throwing. I also see this as a cheap move, although I understand that you will throw unintentionally the odd occasion. Some argue that it's part of their game, but I personally hate being thrown lol. Yes, Zangief will use a piledriver, but we all know that it is even more difficult to pull off with the 360 pad.

In the Alpha series and I think in the third, throws were tweaked to simultaneous button pressing to help combat the accidentals and to make it more difficult, but not very.

In my local arcade back in the day I saw people get punched for using throws. True story.

one of my mates from canada told me they had an unwritten rule there whereby you never threw, and if you did you had a real fight

i'll throw if someone does something dumb like dragon punching and missing, but i won't do those tap-tap-throw thingies where you take advantage of priorities and that the other guy is stuck blocking.

i've played dhalsim guys who really go to town with the throwing (doing that air spin thingy first) and it drives me nuts, hence the developing of my dragon-all-jumpers technique.

if i'm stuck in a block animation i'll just keep doing the dragon punch move and when i get out of the block the dragon kicks in straight away and i almost always land the hit

The dhalsim and Balrog throws are a disgrace lol

I think throws are fine, they're there to stop turtlers IMO, but it's the tap-throw things that I object to, or the psycho crusher-throw. There may be a way to stop em, I just don't know it

I've a friend who was Northern regions SSF2T champion, and he says they simply were not allowed to throw. If you did, you had to forfeit that round, or the next if the throw won it.

psycho crusher throw is easy to stop - just throw the guy while you're blocking. i hardly ever get chucked by the cheap bisonites by just holding left and whacking hard punch

Yeah that works for me sometimes, but others bison always seems to get in there first. Especially when I'm playing Balrog, which is annoying as there's not much else he can do about it.

maybe it depends on balrog's throw priority vs bisons, if there is such a thing with the throws?

i never pay attention to that kinda stuff though. for example, if i'm hammering light kick on a ducking opponent, i know he thinks i'm gonna sweep, but i wait *just* a split second before doing it, and he assumes this is a window of opportunity. it works most of the time, although there are times where the guy just stays blocking which does mess things up a bit.

can't believe i'm revealing my secrets!

I still cant do sodding fireballs. Left-sided dragon punches, no problem. Not being able to use projectiles for Ryu etc, they might as well be fighting with one leg.
