I'll always think back at that amazing E3 video with the virtual helmet being the megaton.

Did anyone give that guy a job in the end?

" Nintendo has been playing us the fool all along. They have been showing us trailers for games that have deliberately downgraded graphics compared to what the Wii can actually do. This is to create an element of surprise for the press during Nintendo's next media event."

Sounds like a fanboy's wet dream.

Sounds like the reverse of the Sony PS2 hype to me. That would be the most pointless strategy in the world.

The final hardware *really* is an over clocked Cube. Simple as that really. No tricks, no surprises, it's a Cube with the power tweaked.

That's missing the point though, the system is all about the controller. That is the sole focus, always has been. The visuals are entirely secondary. Heck just look how small the thing is, how exactly could Nintendo be hiding a new heat pumping GPU/CPU in such a small enclosure?

well, they managed it with the GC versus the Xbox :P

But meh, who cares? 360/PS3 = shiny graphics and "traditional gaming", Wii = hopefully fun and original concepts.

By contacting fanboys and asking them to hand over their immortal soul so that Nintendo can imbue the Wii chips with unearthly powers.

The Wii's real power is in the controller of course, and as the likes of Resident Evil 4 have shown, the Gamecube was capable of some outstanding stuff when the right team used it to the full.

What will be interesting 'next-gen' is how much people get out of the Wii hardware throughout its lifespan in comparison to the 360 and PS3. If games on the Wii are looking similar to their console counterparts with the hardware being pushed more, it'll certainly raise some interesting questions on the rate of generation transitioning.

In a way it'll be good because it'll sort out those who have decent art design from those who don't and use the controller to re-compensate.

The very best games for the Wii will be those that have good art direction and good controller direction, so I don't buy this 'graphics don't matter' line. Of course they do - art defines atmosphere as much as control does.

Well if it harmed the ps2 then I dread to think how much it would have sold if it had better graphics than the xbox.
Seriously though.. it didnt effect it much.. sales indicate this

Heh this is probably a stupid question but dont scold me! Is the DC actually more powerful than the PS2? Graphics-wise I mean.
