Yeah, everything I've ever preordered from DVDboxoffice has been sent quickly, it's only when I've ordered existing items that they take an age to get here. I've not used them in a couple of years but via DHL there's no reason why a Wii from DVDboxoffice shouldn't take more than a few days to arrive. That's what I'm hoping anyway

As I've only ever imported handhelds before, i was wondering if you guys could help me out with a quick cable question?

Do we know what cables the US Wii comes with? And for a standard CRT do you think I will be able to hook it up, or will i have to wait for the UK release to get the cables?

From what we have heard it will only come with a composite cable, which will likely plug straight into an old CRT but may be in black and white. You'd be better buying an S-Video cable along with the sytem, as that will almost certainly give you colour with an NTSC feed.

Most of us here will be buying component cables for it, but not many CRTs have component connections.

          Thanks for the info

I'll plump for the component and run the risk, as my TV has no s-Video

Actually if you don't get colour on NTSC through Composite, you won't get it on S-Video either. They still use the same colour subcarrier.

I've never found that to be honest. I always got colour S-Video, but only got colour composite on my last CRT. (a 32" Panasonic W/S)

Best check the connections on your TV. Component connections are 3 phono style plugs, usually green, blue, and red in colour.

Oh and some TVs have S-Video connections on the front under a little flap.

I've only just got a HDTV and am only using it as a PC monitor at the moment. Is it likely the US componant cable work with the UK Wii? I assume all will work fine these days.

As long as it has component connections it should work just fine.

And here is that info. Literally the minute I posted my last message this arrived:

Sorry no new news regarding preorders still waiting for news from our suppliers.

                          thanks,

They already said they'd update their blog to give us a headsup in advance of opening preorders. Give the poor buggers a break

Ordered my Wii with Zelda from DVDBoxoffice this morning. ?217 including DHL (may need to add ?40 odd on for import duty though), but still a good deal IMO.

I only got a mail from them overnight saying that preorders were open now so that's less than 24hrs they've been taking orders. It all depends on their shipments though I suppose.

BTW, standard Air Mail will take up to 4 weeks for delivery, but anything i've ordered and asked to be shipped via DHL has always been spot on.
