US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

Thats probally because there is next to no chance of gettting one on launch looking at the numbers sony are talking about, id buy one but i know ive got no chance until after christmas and i think pepole know that.

Did I read that Nintendo first Party titles would be region free?

I want to get Wii Play and the extra remote, but obvioulsy I'm in line for a US machine, and Wii Play isn't available in the US.

I'm going for Zelda, and Traum Centre at launch.

Yes but they backtracked very quickly. I think it's still unclear if US-JPN will be compatible but Europe is locked.

Here's what I just got from them:

Hi Keith, unfortunately none of the distributors in the USA have begun
accepting preorders for the Wii console or software yet but we will keep our
customers posted once we have news. We have begun to receive preorders for
Wii accessories from third party manufacturers but nothing from Nintendo has
been announced or confirmed yet. Thanks for checking with us.

I'm tempted to order one, But if I get a US Wii then I'll have to wait another 2 weeks for the cable to arrive. There is no way I can play the Wii in compo****e on a HDTV, It will look a state!

2 Questions.

1) Speaking of cables, I remember Nintendo saying you could play Wii on a variety of displays such as Monitor or Projector. So yeah, any word on a VGA cable?

2) Regarding VG+ orders, do you think the people who got an order in before the console was taken down are likely to get launch shipments?

there dosent seem to be a vga cable from nintendo but that isnt to say that some 3rd party wont make one.

It doesn't look like a VGA cable is coming sadly. I'm sure it will be possible to make one, if the machine can be flipped into Progressive RGB mode somehow...
