US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

This is what I received back from DVD Box office just there - Thanks for the email. Due to the high demand of the Nintendo Wii. We will
not be able to fill all orders on the day of release. Our Plan at the
moment is to have all open orders filled by Christmas. This is depending
on how many Nintendo will be allocating to us at that time. We are not sure
exactly where your order is in the Que because it is computer generated. We
will be receiving a second shipment the last week of November. However I
am not sure if yours will be in that order as of yet. I am very sorry for
the delay and If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free
to email me back and I would be more than happy to help.
I can handle the last week in November but still puzzled why they can't tell me how far down the list I am.
Looks like they'll be a lot of people sitting with games and accessories before they get the console itself

I haven't got a problem with getting mine in time for Xmas, beats buying a bloody PAL system.
I never had a problem with DVDBO before when I've pre-ordered either. The thing I certainly wouldn't do right now is cancel a pre order - because if it becomes anything like the DS situation was in Japan, you will be in for a bit of a wait. As soon as my order arrives, it'll get DHL'd and be here a couple of days after.Last edited by Steve; 02-11-2006, 17:46.

Here's some good news fellas. As posted in the main Wii thread elsewhere:
We are already aware that you won't be able to gain access to the Japanese or American VC in UK with a UK console. But if you import a US or Japanese Wii into UK, will that machine be capable of accessing the UK VC servers to download and play games made available to us Brits?
Nintendo: No. The European Virtual Console will be available only to European machines. If you import an American machine they would have to connect to the American service and use American Wii Points cards to buy content. Their warranty would also be void so this is not recommended.
So, access to a wider selection of VC titles, all guaranteed 60hz, paying US dollars instead of pounds. Sounds good to me! All that remains to be seen is whether US consoles in the UK will connect flawlessly in the way Nintendo suggest above. The only brick wall I can see hitting is it might throw a fit about non-US/Canadian based IP addresses.
I missed out on getting an Videogames Plus order in (I thought they were going to e-mail customers alerting them to a countdown?). It?s highly likely I?ll just have a friend in the US send me one, but I?ll still be waiting for 100% confirmation on accessing the net and the Virtual Console. It?s sounding good though!Last edited by Angry the Clown; 04-11-2006, 09:18.

Cheaper points cards FTW! Guaranteed optimised games, more choice, we can't lose! No waiting for Brussels to tell us what we can and cannot play until it is translated into Urdu or something! Damn you Nintendo for region locking the Wii!
