UK Wii pre-orders Thread

Just got the following from Woolworths:

"Nintendo have only shipped part of the promised stock for Nintendo Wii to all retailers within the UK. Due to this, we have only received part of our allocation. We are led to believe by Nintendo that we will receive all stock in time for pre-Christmas delivery. Please accept our apologies for this delay."

My order still says delivery on the 8th, but that's just not going to happen.

So if I don't get that email does that mean I'm getting, or not getting one?

My mate got a missed call from GAME, he called them and he was asked which games he wanted so they could pack his order. He told me to call them aswell, and the chap said I will get a phone call tomorrow, I just hope I atleast get Legend of Zelda or Rayman, or I wll have no games for a little while (Happened with Xbxo360 launch too, somehow Dixons did not have either PGR3, PDZ or Kameo! I had to play Hexic for a week! lol )

I ordered with argos and am curious to know what dates those that have had "that call" ordered on. I ordered mine on the 16th (nov).

I can't remember the actual wording of the original argos pre email (http://www.argos-email.co.uk/preregister/wii/)

Does anyone have a screenshot? Also same for woolworths.

I'm sure argos practically promised delivery on the 8th, same with Woolies.

If the worst comes to the worst and people don't get a wii on friday I think it appropriate to point this out to the advertising standards people, and at least see what they can do about this false advertising.

Yeah I've seen it. Unfortunately there's no way we can really use it, if they have no stock to give us, there is nothing they can do...I don't think using it as fuel for a complaint (or whatever) is gonna work, they'd call our bluff and ultimately we'd still have no wii whatever we try and say/argue.

they havent promised delivery on day of release, it says week of release

but alot of guys complained to Amazon for what happened with the 360 launch and i think they all got ?20 vouchers

its amazing what people will do to try and get a voucher or 2

Indeed, I was even told that if I don't get it friday I should get it within 5 days of that. Not the end of the world in that respect (if even THAT is true and happens) but it would have been very very nice to have whilst on holiday for the wife and I to play it together

Gav, let me know how you go. If you get a voucher damn sure I'm kicking some ship up into their eyes.

Still says delivery 8th, but I'm sure that'll change tomorrow. But it IS important to note that that email doesn't say we WONT be getting one and it could have gone out to everyone. It went out to people who are are "awaiting dispatch" as well. All is not lost, though to be honest I'm only so upbeat because I was pretty sure I wasn't getting one friday anyway.
