      Wii
      Zelda
      New castlevania ds
      Lumines Live

But I could just do with Wii and Zelda to be honest, nothing else needs enter my mind.

That'll do me, although you watch i'll go a bit mad and buy more games on Wii launch, i wont be able to resist.

Wii, wiith Zelda, Red Steel, Trauma Center, Raving Rabbids and probably Metal Slug Anthology, and it would be enough...however, the gaming gods decided that Elite Beat Agent, Final Fantasy III, Disgaea PSP and the biggest Italian comic and gaming expo will be held all in the same months. And there's October, too with the First Colossus...argh.

Gears of War, Rainbowsix Vegas, COD3, and Fear in the same month!
OhemGee, we have slow releases for months, and then all the good stuff comes along at the same time. Can I justify ?150 on games in November? I think I can.

              LOL

I am looking at more than that in just one week in October .... Pro Evo launching the same day as Fifa, Tiger Woods and Splinter Cell means 4 games I must buy - and thats without the 'day' in November when GoW and Rainbow 6 launches alongside the HD-DVD unit (I expect FEAR and CoD3 will launch a week later as well when we eventually get their release dates)

i thought COD3 was down as 17th as that was the ps3 launch date it was a launch title?

I will be surprised if it goes head to head with both GoW and Rainbow Six - I would expect CoD3 to be either the week before or after the 17th so as to not 'harm' either of them in terms of sales.

I'm intrigued at to the "why" these games have to be purchased as soon as they hit the shelves. I can understand the need to buy one or two but 5 or even 10! their not going to disappear anytime soon are they?

cos we have disposable income now that we have grown up and we like to be first in to get games cos we are hard core! Did you not know this?

lol, well yes but I was hoping for a greater insight than "cos we are hard core".

It's an interesting question, but the answer is no more revealing than movie lovers who may watch 15-20 films in the space of a month, or book lovers who may read ten or more novels.

                          Edit: I stand corrected. :P

It's all about the Xbox Live mentality that has come over from the original Xbox - if you don't play the game as soon as possible then you fall behind in the Live stakes.

The greatest problem Xbox Live had was that a game was only 'hot' over Live for the first few weeks of release (if that) - then people gradually drifted back to their favourites (which was either Rainbow 6 or Halo 2). You wait too long to purchase a game and you would struggle to find any online games to play in.

Now, with the integration of the friends list into the 360 OS, and it highlighting what everyone is playing, if you don't play the latest games as and when they are released, and then you check your friends list and every other ****er is playing that game, then you feel as though you are missing out...

There's another factor to take into consideration as well, which is hype - after reading about a game for months and months, being drip fed images, videos and hands on impressions you just want to play the bloody thing as soon as its released. Why wait longer than necessary to get your hands on something when you could be sat at home playing it?

I think this is where demo's can actually harm a game (especially downloadable over Live) - it can mean that you can get your 'fix' of a game before its release, so you don't mind waiting a while longer than its release date to purchase it (for example, I had my fix of a few titles recently so didn't mind ordering the Asian versions from Play-asia.com, and waiting for them to reach me rather than be already playing the PAL version). On a personal level, I won't play any demos for a title I am eagerly anticipating (if they released a GoW demo I would pass on it) since I like to head into these big games virginally fresh.

LOL - you can't buy ten games in a week, even a month, and expect to be any good at any of them. Not unless you're unemployed or have a time machine. That simply doesn't define hardcore to me.

I'm sick of spending ?50 for a game when I'm only interested in online multiplayer for every other c**t to stop playing it after two days.

Ahhh.......... shush Fallows! And get to China already!

I was only messing around with the hard core malarky. Its true though about the Live mentality, and can also be related to here as well in terms of discussions. Its always so much more fun to talk about a game you are or have been playing with everyone else. But if you come to the party late, a la me <---- then you miss a whole lot of fun. Its like watching a great movie and not having anyone to rave to about it. Remember how you watched season 2 of lost and had to keep stump cos the UK hadnt even aired it yet? Frustrating innit?
