Wow, £40 digital! Then again it does seem to be a comprehensive collection. I think it's worth it, provided there's no nasty surprises with the reviews.

Get on it Digital Foundry! I want the good, the bad and the nerdy

There was NEVER any chance of this going for £20 RRP. Tell me you understand that, right?

I haven't checked but I'm assuming that Digital Eclipse are handling this like they have with all of the other Capcom compilations to date?

EDIT: Initial reports seem positive; probably gonna buy this later today.

TLDR - MvC2 on PS4 via this collection has a v similar delay to what was seen in the Dreamcast version (i.e. better than the PS3/360 versions). Good news!

I gave this a quick play through the different titles yesterday on PC (£30 on CDKeys at the mo) and it seems pretty solid. There are quite a few different CRT like filters that you'll find one you like, loads of extras in the museum that are interesting for each of the games, jukebox section, all the games are fluid and responsive with no slowdown and MVC2 is way faster in gameplay than I remember it being. I couldn't get a casual match online for the older titles though, probs all playing MVC2.

Well worth a purchase I'd say.

I found the default filter too heavy on the Switch undocked but there is plenty of choice. It's a superb collection. Really well put together.

And yes, I was actually really surprised about how fast MvC2 is, and it hasn't been that long since I played it.

                No speed setting for MvC2?

Capcom confirm that the European physical Switch version of MvC Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will be code-in-a-box.

                  So importing it is then.

                  SMH.

You can select Normal and Turbo after character selection, but no DIP switches to change turbo speed in the settings.

Even on Normal it definitely felt fast - I'm sure this was how that game was originally, it's just me not having played it in ages.

Actually no just poked about and there is a speed selection prior to launching the game, but this just either forces the game speed or sets the Turbo option speed (So, normal and turbo 1-3), so you can speed things up, but normal is as low as it'll go.

Disappointing. Looks like the European PS4 version will be coming on a disc. Still undecided as to whether to just get the digital version or wait for the physical.

Tbh, I was going the import route for a US or JPN physical version anyway and this fokkery from Capcom has only solidified that decision.

Who's to say that Capcom and Disney don't have a disagreement down the line that leads to the game being removed from sale and delisted digitally??

They surely have a 3 or 5 -years or so deal for it to be on sale, after which they'll have to renegotiate licencing terms, and Capcom most probably won't spend a penny more on it, leading to the game being delisted.

Yup. I think you're right, but of course we shall see.

Been playing this collection and it's fantastic.

The only niggle I have is that there's no versus mode; you have to play Arcade mode and, if a player wants to change characters, they have to lose a match. It's essentially emulating the coin-op on Free Play.

I would love it if they would patch an option in to address this, though I've no idea if such a thing is possible.

I never really dug into these games in the past as I was somewhat overwhelmed by them, but after spending some time on it with a few characters I have found that this game really allows your to express yourself in combos. Obviously, still a bit to learn (movement etc), but so far it's just a lot of fun.
