    Frosthaven

I don't think anyone was expecting this at least for another 2 years based on the publisher and devs comments for the last year.. but here we are, it will, like Gloomhaven take up alot my hours, specially in MP mode, which im up to nearly 200 hours in now since starting the digital version September last year.

For those not in the know, the xxxxHaven games are well made (and expensive) tabletop RPGs built for long campaigns building up multiple characters and your towns QoL which was transferred to videogames (fairly buggy, even now for MP has disconnection issues), the combat is a unique for Hex/turn based tactics where your turn order and what you can do is determined by 2 card picks from your hand, each with 2 actions top/bottom, picking top will lock you out of the top choice on the other card for example, with an ever decreasing pool of burnt cards when all your played hand is in the discard pile adding to the urgency complete the mission with some very nasty enemies and missions types making for tense stand offs, hoping your combat deck throws you that x2 damage multiplier than miss.

I've only played 12-14 hours of Frosthaven in tabletop form, quite a few QoL updates from Gloom/Jaws are nice and expanded town building helped make you feel like the Hero of the town, really looking for to it in digital form.

A bit of a follow up, the original 2 devs and the publisher are not involved with this which explains why no-one expected it... instead it has been picked up by Julian Gollop studio (X-com creator) which did a decent job with Phoenix Point, a x-com-like 4 years ago and haven't done much other than DLC for it.

Thanks. Encouraging that different devs are in charge. I was put off Gloomhaven after the reports of how they took it off sale given how broken it was, and how it returned in a not too impressive state either. Big fan of Jaws of the Lion in tabletop form, so I might be tempted to give this a go.

As far as single player/hot seating goes, it just works now at least where PC is concerned, and is 100% worth the playing if you are tabletop fan, not sure the state of the switch version. Steam sales come often where you can get base, jaws and guildmaster mode (100 quests that are digital only challenge mode with set characters) for £20, It's the multiplayer (and crossplay) that can have issues, generally around desyncing which can happen 1 in 5 quests which is easily fixed just reloading the match by the host (will set you back to the last card pick though) and very rarely none-hosts crashing out to main menu which requires the host playing solo to the next card pick (i've maybe seen this 4 times in hundreds of games)
