He is getting in line at 18.00?!?!? Wanna meet up for some Black Nikka whiskey??

Jeez I might wanna go there at midnight or something but it won`t be enough I guess. I am going to make a tour around Tokyo to check out lines in Shibuya, Shinjuku and Akihabara and will post some nice pics on my site.

He is setting up camp at 18:00 Friday night and I will push in the line to join him later.
seriously, this is asking for trouble. Given the situation with the units , this is trouble guaranteed (there will be gaijins galore and Japanese punters - so i wouldn't expect everyone in the queue to let this happen). Again - with places with 20 or so units, is someone who has taken the time to queue -before- you just goint allow you to go in front knowing that you are potentially taking thier unit from them? *sucks air through teeth* Good luck.

And what happens if the Japanese guys infronts mates all turn up at 2-3am after the clubs close? I'd assume you'd have no problem with them just going in front ? This is why this launch is becoming more and more of a disaster - i'm sure lots of people have this sort of plan - and it's all going to backfire, because a lot of people are going to queue, not to snag machines to play them, but to snag machines to make big money - so they have 'more to lose' than those just queuing for the machine. :/

Just so it is absolutely clear on this - if i do go, i will NOT put anyone up in the queue. No matter who they are.

Nobody really wants a Wii over a PS3, really
he he - someone didn't see the queues for preorders for wii then!

I am sure there will be guards checking the line, and there will be a fence so cutting in line will be too obvious te miss out for those guards. I decided not to sell mine in case I can get one. I think Ebay should BAN PS3 sales for the first 3 weeks.

well, if i get one i'm getting one for the sake of it really (well, that and linux + Resistance + RR) and something to sit under the 1080P set (which i still have to order! lol)

Then again, perhaps i'm being unreasonable? i don't need to make the cash so perhaps it's unfair to moan about profiteers :/

Well I could really use the money in stead of spending it, but I know that's just no fun. I'm a gamer, not a dealer, $@# that. Ridge Racer and Resistance oeh yeah. Railfan, Motorstorm, Sonic next month, nice line up.

after the TGS and X360 demos, i'm giving Sonic a lot of room! Motorstorm looks great though!

I quite fancy doing the queueing up for a launch thing one time, just to experience the atmosphere of it all; not in the UK though - lines of surly, aggressive people in the cold looking miserable doesn't really appeal.

I did it for the PSP launch. Arrived at Shinjuku Bic Camera at 6:30 after a good four hours attempting to get some sleep in the nearest Manboo. Three freezing hours later I was on the way home with it.

Will be doing the same thing again for the Wii, but not the PS3, and it will be in Shinjuku again.

                    Good luck getting one.

We`re not in it for the money or the machine, just the principle. Just tickles me that a certain grey importer will give us a grand for them after 18 years of buying Jap machines in the launch window in ENG. for silly money. We paid; Jap MD for 250 (Shekana), SFC for 300 (Console Concepts), Neo Geo for 450 (South Coast Consoles), SS for 550 (Project K), PS1 for 550 (CEX), N64 for 750 (Raven), PS2 for 550 (Planet Distribution). Revenge is sweet, if I can get one. Good luck everyone and enjoy it.

But yah gonna hafta get a few to re-coup all the money yah spent in the past. How much is it on launch in pounds in Nihon? ?600? You are only makin ?400 profit. Thats not including the air mail fees, possible customs tax. Hardly seems worth the effort.

The principle is all well a good but yah putting a lot of effort jus to get one over on Mr indie. I mean can yah really be bothered? Why waste yah time on them when you can enjoy the cream of the gaming iceberg?

Meh that's nothing, I paid 3000 GUILDERS at the time for a ps2 on import. I guess that's around 1500 USD back then. This is my first huge launch in Japan and I am debating where I should go. I am checking out Akiba just to make some pics and feel the vibe, but for actually getting a ps3 it might be wise to check a Yodobashi in a city like Machida or something...I should use my bic pointo kaaaadooo.

Personally I would buy one for my own enjoyment and not to get back at importers as if you do, then you have become the very thing you despise considering that some rich, sap in the UK is going to pay the importer even more dosh for the privilege of owning it.

You are going to use your Bic card in Yodobashi?

                              How about Bic in Ginza?
