id just wait tbh, thinks the usb runs a bit slower than a wifi connection. but leave it to run and am sure you will be ok

yeah i dont have much choice lol says dont turn off power, seriously though it has not moved at all in 10 mins, anyone else have this problem, what would happend if i was to pull out my Nintendo USB thing, but not turn the Wii off, bad idea?

All this is tempting me to wait until the LAN adapter is out before updating mine.

let me correct my last statement, the bar moved a tiny smidge, at this rate only another few hours to go, this wifi thing is so damn fast lol

ahh damit after 30 mins of nothing i just got an error code 32002 saying unable to update because of an internal error, please try again later. Is this a problem with my Wii or is it a server kind of problem?

                Router configuration I think.

Most suggested fixes include setting the router channel to 1 or 11, making sure the name of the network is not the default one, making sure SSID is not hiden.

That's not the fatal error, luckily.

Aha! I think I've sorted it now. While I could get online, it was very unreliable, and the store was unbearably slow, often timing out. Unfortunately I did two things at once, but I'm pretty certain this is it - when setting up your connection, enter the SSID manually, rather than searching, and then set up everything else as you normally would. Set MTU to 1500 rather than zero.

The other thing I did was set the wireless channel to 1, but I'm 99% certain that wasn't it.

                    Why 1500, specifically?

That would be a very bad figure for AOL users to choose, as it can cause mucho problems with browsing outside of the AOL suite.

I always use an MTU of 1000 or so on routers connected to AOL. I can never remember the real specific maximum figure - is it 1250ish or 1150? 1050?? - so choose 1000 or so to be on the safe side.

I suspect in your case it's not the actual MTU figure that's important (as packets sent with an MTU of 0 would contain no data!!) but that in setting it manually you're over-riding some quirky behaviour of your particular router.

Also, please note that many routers don't have the option to set the MTU. I'd bet that for many models changing it would make no difference.

                    Stroller.

I didn't change anything on my router at all, it just worked. It is slow though, takes an age to connect to the Wii Store and the updates took a worryingly long amount of time. (about 10 mins each) Perhaps it's just slow on Nintendo's end and will get better in time.

How do you change the router settings using the Nintendo USB adapter thing?

That's exactly what mine was like before I adjusted MTU on the Wii.

I have a Linksys router and NTL 4mb broadband - an MTU of 1500 is the recommended setting for both.

I'm reluctant to change any settings as it working and I don't want to break it.

I downloaded PC Genjin (or 'Bonk' as it's stupidly called in the West) today and it only took 30 seconds or so. I love the progress bar when you're downloading, best one ever!
