I understand and support the Gameplay is king etc. etc. viewpoint which often gets carted out, but there's a practical element to this.
480p games suffer from pixelisation and jagged edges on non-native televisions, which for some who plan to do all their gaming on one HDTV, is going to make their lives difficult. I've had to accomodate space for my old CRT for this reason in case the Wii suffers current-gen problems, so yes it is a consideration and worth discussing.
