We'll you could apply the import charges and lost goods to any items imported. And I wonder how accomodating any UK/US sellers would be when replacing a lost or faulty ?600-?700 PS3.

Also in my own experience if you state that all responsibilty is yours , then yes most will under declare it.

When it comes down to though , If you feel comfortable paying 2-3 times the retail price then fair dues .

I'd never in a million years declare a PS3 as being worth less than ?36 no matter what gentleman's agreement had been entered into. Still, d'ffrent strokes for d'ffrent folks.

I'm just saying that, once you add on VAT, duty and the admin charges of the courier, you're looking at another ?80+ easy.

How about if you want a US unit?

What makes me luahg is that the seller has a postage cost of ?50.00. I hope he's delivering it himself for that price.

Hopefully , looking to import one myself within the month .
For the four years I worked in Japan 10,000 yen was always around 50 quid which would make 70k = 350 quid.

If it's gone down that much glad I don't work there anymore!

70,000.00 JPY Japan Yen = 307.420 GBP United Kingdom Pounds

                1 JPY = 0.00439172 GBP 1 GBP = 227.701 JPY

How muchis the UK release again ,this is bloody scandalous.

Just bought a 60GB + Resistance from ebay.ca. CAD$1149 which is about ?510. Not the cheapest and certainly more expensive than the JPN version but I've missed out on a hell of a lot of PS2 games so I could pick up games like SoTC and GoW for ?13 from VG+ which I couldn't do with a JPN PS3.

And I suppose when you consider ?425 is still being touted for the UK launch (I can't see that price point staying, ?399 surely?!) + ?40-50 for a game it's not too bad, I'm happy to pay it.

As a side note, on eBay.com they're regularly going for around $850-950 before shipping; roughly ?430-?485. Not too bad I suppose.

Blimey. It always used to be around the 200 mark.

This is not a great time to be sending money home from that job at Nova. On the plus side it's a great time to go to Japan and pick up all the electronics you ever wanted for bargain bucket prices.

I agree , I truely dont know how Sony can justify the UK price point with the N,American and Japanese units retailing for a hell of a lot less.

They can justify it as good business - ie, they'll charge what people are willing to pay for it, knowing it'll still sell-out. Europe and the UK have always got the crappy end of the stick in terms of Sony RRPs and I doubt that'll change any time soon.

I gather it won't play a DVD Disc encoded in PAL format full stop, like the PS2.
