I can't understand why anyone has any interest in Famitsu scores. Every gamer in Japan knows full well that the Famitsu reviews are not independent and the magazine's relationship with publishers is very tight. It's partly why the reviews section is such a tiny part of the magazine.

And yet, on Western forums they are used like some kind of bible. They are the equivalent of those free magazines you get in rental stores like Blockbuster, where every game gets a decent review. I'm not knocking Famitsu, but people should be aware of the *ahem* score.

Honestly, there's more point in posting the scores from Loaded.

Last time I looked (a year ago?), Maxim had decent review scores, although the actual reviews were only given a few words each - must be gutting for the writer.

I never listen to game scores. Lot's of the games I love, received mediocre scores, and many which I despise, received ridiculousy high scores.

Famitsu scores are a bit of fun though. Some people listen, some laugh, but it's a gaming tradtion many of us savour.

Those Sonic scores are comedy gold. Has to be one of the worst games in the past few years, it's a total joke.

Lost Planet though, I suspect they are rather closer to the mark on. Can't wait!

The Famitsu scores seem to be gradually having a lower standard...either that or games are generally better than they were 10 years ago :P

I always liked the ideas behind Famitsus review system, but always realised it was never implemented very well. Especially when looking at some of their ridiculous scoring of certain games.

I'm waiting for next months SRPG release bonanza with SRW, Soul Cradle and Dragon Shadow Spell coming out. Just to see which scores highest, but I would never gauge my purchases off their scores.

i remember buying a usa version of gamepro when i was in airport

That really shows it up as why its not much cop. Can you remember what game it was?

I always take an average if differing review scores are so far apart like that. That one is 6.66666r so thats probably a fair reflection depending on what game it is.
