I've been playing Zelda for years and used to play games in the series constantly at one stage. I always wanted to play it in its as much as an original form as possible, and the Wii didn't fit that criteria for me because I'm a bit of a stickler for originality and having things the way they were intended. The Wii way just isn't suited to me and my style of play on the game.

I like to fly all over the place circling enemies in and out
and then the big flying jump attack as much as is possible, and I know I wouldn't be able to do this aswell on the Wii version because of having a slight disability in my right hand. I had a go on the Wii version and had to keep re-adjusting every time and it was too frustrating because of this disability and not being able to keep eveything flowing.

Obviously its because of my nerve damage but its for this reason I won't be buying a Wii anyway because I know i will struggle. I also got a certain amount of snobbery on another forum just for even saying that I always wanted to play the GC instead of the Wii. Which was quite shocking really as long as I am enjoying the game in some way.

Well, as I think this thread shows, there are voices for the GC version. I have the Wii version and I can tell you that, nerve damage or not, you're not missing anything. And it must be nice to have the locations in the right place.

They really prefer the Cube version apart from the 16:9 mode and the fact that the Wii can have four items on quick select as opposed to two on the Cube. They make a good enough argument but from my perspective I can't see how anyone can prefer aiming with a stick over pointing and shooting.

And of course, what they don't mention is that PAL Cube users don't get 480p either.

Thar be the link, but it's Insider only I'm afraid.

EDIT: Oops, should have finished reading the thread first!

I thought that none of the Gamecube Twilight Princesses got 480p?

I assume you are right handed. If you are able to use your right hand to use an analog stick, couldn't you simply use the nun chuk attachment with the right hand, and use the remote on the left?
For most games you should be fine like that, except ones that uses heavy use of the accelometer in the nun chuck. Although if you are right handed you may have trouble aiming with your left hand in shooters :P

Well the US copy I got here has the prog scan symbol on the back of the box.

Tronix did tell me that they were expecting major shortages on stock for the US Cube version from their suppliers. They thought the lot they got in was gonna be it for Xmas and maybe way beyond. So MASSIVE thumbs up to them for deliberately setting aside a copy when their supply came in. I know we don't praise customer service when it goes right quite often (usually just complain when it's bad) but the guys done great there in terms of going out of their way to help someone (ie. me!).

In the US shop wise, the major game stores have had massive problems getting stock, it all seems to have gone to the chains (Target, Toys R Us, Best Buy) instead for some reason. US Cube version of Zelda won't be rare by a long shot, but it's certainly tricky finding a copy right now. You just got to know where to look!

As for the game itself, I didn't fancy all the remote waving to fight, so I went the "easy" route. That and the fact I wanted Link as a lefty still (cos I'm one too!). And the map being the "right" way around.

Aside from a number of visual similarities to OoT, anyone else noticed how some of the music, especially the wolf songs, are OoT mirrors? I thought that was really rather cool...

As for the series order, I don't think Nintendo have ever made one, but in my opinion, it currently goes now: OoT, Majora, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, LttP, Link's Awakening, LoZ, Link's Adventure. Where the Oracle games come in, not sure.

                    Why place TP there? Well...

the place you get the Master Sword from looks very much like a ruined Temple of Time... and the same sort of grove where you find the sword in LttP. How did Hyrule unwater itself between WW and TP? Guess we may not know. Unless it's mentioned later on from where I currently am.

Lie with passion and be forever damned...

No Miyamoto said TP is somewhere between OOT and Windwaker (WW is 100 years after OOT) in the timeline

and I'm pretty sure WW is near or at the end of the list

Really enjoying this. I just finished the Forest temple after an incredibly fast and surprising 2-hour session (I really did think I'd been playing for about 30 minutes). I'm not the world's biggest Zelda fan but I'm very impressed with this and I'm having loads of fun. The sense of satisfaction that comes from figuring out each temple and the boss encounter is certainly one of gamings highpoints.

Bugger me, i've been trying so hard to avoid reading any reviews or previews for TP that I never even knew that they had 'flipped' the game like this. Does it actually really effect the game, or is it only a bother if you've played one and then try playing the other? And is there any difficulties using the Wii remote? - if so I might just go for the cube version, it would save me waiting till I can get my hands on a Wii.

Sorry for all the q's, but I had always had it in my mind that I would go for the 'superior' wii version, but now i'm not so sure.

Bugger this, I think i'll buy both.

Nope. You don't notice anything that would be "out of place". Naturally, if you play Cube version first, then it probably feels little strange. And vice versa, of course.

Nope, but in addition of having better aiming and fishing, it doesn't really add that much (but neither makes game worse). But one good bonus using Wii remote is that you can adjust your hands in pretty much any way you want. Personally I found Wiimote / nunchuk combo more comfortable than using Cube controller.

Can't praise Tronix enough. I e-mailed them when it didn't appeared in the pre-order section and they explained the supply problem but offered to keep me a copy provided they received the stock from their suppliers. The help from them was brilliant and i e-mailed them telling them just that. Great bunch of guys!

I doubt you'll even notice unless you've played both. It's just disorientating to go from one to the other when, for example, you'll walk into a village and bear left to go to a shop and suddenly realise that it's actually to the right, or head clockwise around Hyrule Field only to realise the place you want is on the other side. It's a baffling design decision really when no-one would even have noticed if Link was suddenly right-handed in the Wii version.

Not really. I find I like not having my hands tied together while playing and being able to move them independently, and I love aiming with the remote. Anything else I could give or take.
