    Twlight Princess GC

I was holding back to get a Wii but my preorder didn't come through (my local Currys must be really low priority or ****, because I was 2nd on the list and they still don't have any consoles).

I was in GAME today and noticed a offer where you can get a preowned GC for ?19.99 when you buy Twilight Princess on the GC. I must say I'm temped because this is the only game the currently interests me on the Wii anyway. I had a GC that I sold 18 months ago as new titles basically dired up, the only thing that is holding me back from repurchasing a GC for one last bash is that TWP doesn't support 16:9... so it proberly will look ****ty streched out on a widescreen TV.

Anyone else in the same boat as me? I seriously want to play this new Zelda game, I've always been a fan.

I'm picking up both personally. I've got the Wii version waiting under the tree at home and I've just ordered the GC version too. Read the head to head up on IGN this morning and it sounds like the GC version, excepting the lack of 16:9, is possibly even the better of the two versions.

I've also heard that the GC version of the game, in the US at least, is a limited print run (Tronix have stopped taking orders for it), so it might be a worthy investment.

I guess what I'm basically saying is that if you really can't wait then it's apparently worth playing the GC version. Great deal too.

GC version has the 'correct' levels, so I'll be getting just for that. Though I do love the Wii version

It seems very limited for PAL - just checked through the web and a lot of places sold out already.

Just ordered one against my will (wasn't going to spend any more til after Xmas as my bank account is shafted) but suppose Nintendo had my balls on this one! Will finish the fantastic Wii version, then do Majoras Mask (never have), then back to GC TP

The GC version is "correct" and the Wii version was mirrored. Not just Link and the controls but the entire game so that Link would be right handed.

I think that's what he's referring to. Link is traditionally a lefty, but since the majority of people on the Wii are going to be playing with the 'sword' in their right, the whole game has literally been flipped over. So what would be a left turn in the GameCube version is now a right on the Wii. Why they did that instead of just flipping Link is beyond me.

Apparently it's incredibly disorientating to switch between them. What makes the Wii version less correct is that on the Cube the map was designed to mirror that of Ocarina of Time (Kakariko and Death Mountain to the north-east, Lake Hylia and Gerudo Desert to the west, etc), but obviously that's flipped on the Wii.

The Cube one is probably going to be a worthy investment. They'd prefer that you bought it on the Wii which is why it's kind of been snuck out a couple of weeks late, and I wouldn't bet on there being many more runs of it. If any.

It appears to be rare online but easy to find in store. Where I live Game and Gamestation have plenty in stock and even Virgin who ditched the GC years ago had a few copies on the shelf.

That is another issue I was aware of, I understand switching link's hands as most players are right handed... but the whole feckin map? Crazyness

I think I'm going to go and buy myself a GC and TWP rather than wait till Feb for Wii's to be on the shelves

I'm playing the GC version and it's fecking amazing. Graphically it puts some 'next gen' titles to shame and obviously in the gameplay department it's untouchable. I don't know now if I'll play the Wii version (which has arrived, still waiting on Wii), well not immediately anyway, as I'm guessing it will be tarnished by the cube experience.

Here's the big advantage of the (PAL) Wii version (over and above widescreen and wiimote) - component video.

I am thinking about picking up a GC version for completeness sake. Nope, that's ridiculous Leave it!

I have the US Wii version sat here with no Wii to play it on, & the US GC version on the way.

I'm desperate to play it, so I think it'll be the GC version. Will be a nice send off for my machine

Any chance you could link that IGN article? I can't seem to find it.

I'm going to start the GC version of Twilight Princess over the weekend because I'm only 3 hours into it on the Wii and the GC version is how it was originally designed to be played. Perhaps I'm just being a luddite but Zelda is just perfect on the Wavebird.
