I've played Forza online with a few of you guys, but it's always been rather brief over the last few months.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to have a couple of solid hours spare to play against a friend. He has a 360 and I have an original Xbox. His ?5 copy of Forza must have seemed like great value, even just in that one-off 2 hour session he got his money's worth. I haven't had this much fun multiplayer gaming in ages.
We decided to pick very slow car and go round Nurburgring. Mazda 3 Sport. Hmmm, in what way is it "sport"? Excellent. That'll be perfect.
We spent the next 10 minutes driving flat out round corners next to each other, changing down into 4th going up hills, slipstreaming and passing each other twice on each straight and generally having a hilarious time drifting (read: understeering) our cars through every corner.
Spent the rest of the two hours in a variety of cars on different tracks, but always picking the bog standard ones to ensure we had identical cars.
I can only imagine what the Mazda Nurburgring experience would have been like with 8 people playing! Probably a bit more crashing, because we both tend to play with collision on, but try avoiding each other as much as possible.
Similarly, racing the (fast) GTS cars around Maple Valley Short track was great fun because you didn't have to know the track.
Point to point, we tried the kaido hillclimb and descent in a variety of cars. The Mazda scored highly again, finding it hard to get out of 2nd on the climbs and having next to no brakes on the downhill.... and then suddenly switching to the P1 cars and trying to adjust to the insanity of it all.
Much as I love PGR, the satisfaction I've got from Forza online has always been superb.
So, nothing really to discuss, but just wanted to share how much fun I had gaming. Really looking forward to seeing how Forza2 turns out on the 360 and hoping I'll be able to play it with a lot of you peeps.
If anyone wants to play Forza or Rallisport Challenge2 (unfortunately the latter isn't backwards compatible), let me know.
