There should be zero reason not to allow the mics to be used from the previous PS2 games given they're USB.

You know those wireless mikes wont be bundled with the game either they'll rape you another £35+ for them.

Put me down as another whose only seen this worth buying a PS3 for! I hope they'll keep supporting the PS2 with new versions of this for a bit.

Most Bluetooth headsets work on the PS3 remember.

And the heavy, proper SingStar mics are a huge part of the appeal of the game.

I'm another that would probably buy a PS3 just for SingStar. My wife and her friends adore it.

As a complete off topic aside, I'd recommend something called an iKaraoke to anyone who likes singstar and has an iPod. It automatically lowers the vocals and you can use it with an song you have on your ipod. Nowhere near as good as Singstar, but me, my wife and two friends used it for about 5 hours last Saturday night. Got really messy, but was ace.

Is there any info on eyetoy2 compatability? Would be great to save some singstar action to the hard drive and watch it the day after a good party!

I don't know how feasible that would be from a tech point of view but would make for some cracking entertainment.
