The most difficult games ..

I find many games difficult - especially jumping in Mario and Zelda and shooting anything - but of my favourite kind (RPGs) I found Vagrant Story the trickiest, both in finding my way around and the final boss. On first attempt we drew, as after more than an hour neither had been able to hurt the other ...

The boss in Tekken 5 (Jinpachi?) is just a great big ball of cheese and ruins an otherwise great game (IMO). Fighting games are the worst culprit for borderline cheating for difficulty - I once launched a SNES pad at my TV after Guile walked forward, took one step back, then threw a Sonic Boom. Hold back for 2 seconds to charge my arse!
I've recently started revisiting some of the 8- and 16-bit classics of my youth that I could never get anywhere on and have discovered that I wasn't just crap at games, they were in fact rock hard.

Oh yes, I was forgetting about Tekken 5's Jinpachi. Cheap is the word I'd use. I've never tried it on anything other than normal difficulty yet you can and often do lose to a seemingly unavoidable three hit combo (stomp/push/fireball) within 10 seconds of the start. Just trying to avoid one fireball let alone a series, which do up to 50% HP with one shot, is an exercise in frustration.

I think we have a winner!
And by the way, that is NOT the last boss. True Last Boss, TLB, comes after one-crediting the game on Ultra. Unfortunately there's no replays of him yet.
And by the way, TLB is NOT the last boss either. After one-crediting the game on Ultra - including the TLB - comes TLB2. The only man who has made to that far, is SWY-Yusemi, the man behind the Hard mode record in Ikaruga for years (a guy named Leon-FMI surpassed the score a few months ago). A demonstration of TLB2.
One thing's for sure, I'm gonna buy the superplay DVD if one comes out.Last edited by Scarface; 02-03-2007, 23:24.

The ones that come to mind are:
Spider man and X-men: Arcade's revenge. Mostly due to bad design all around (still fun though).
Alone in the Dark 2: Same as above
Beatmania Series: Maybe I just suck but I've been practacing for Years on and off without getting much better.
GnG games: "I beat it! Finally! .... oh wait no. I have to do it again and get the faries."
