It reminds me of Rag Doll Kung Fu a little.

By the same guy of course! Surprised Microsoft didn't snap up the company, what with their unofficial love for all things Lionhead (where the guy was last).

The only problem was that Ragdoll Kung Fu looked hilarious and fun, until you played it and you realised it was big pile o turd. Worst £12 I've ever spent, not even the "comedy" cutscenes could save it :S

That is coming from the forums number 1 fan of ragdoll physics.

As I said, the graphics and the overall style are incredible, cute and lovely BUT I can guarentee that if this had been released with standard 2D cartoon visuals and a not with the trendy ilustration/ designer toy look it had it would of been berated and ignored.
I'll have to wait and see how it plays myself because you can't tell until you actually play it but for the moment I stick with what I say.

For me, Rag Doll Kung Fu was let down by its mouse control. Maybe this will work better being controlled by a pad. But yeah, until I play, I can only say it looks good - here's hoping it plays as well as it looks

Was just joking about with my "you dislike Sony" comment mate... as I remember your joking reaction to when I told you I worked for them

Your right about the look but is it so bad they want it to sell ?
NSMB is 2.5d and that did well sales wise, and as for cute in the gdc demo when he waves hello and gets the stars on his head its heart warming.
I ahve never felt that from a game b4

Little Big Planet has also spawned what is, I believe, the BEST AVATAR EVER.

                (Hopefully it animates OK)

I wish I could take credit for it, it's pilfered from someone at NeoGAF. I'm sure someone will be able to oblige though.

I didn't think my Wargames avatar would ever leave, but if I could get one of that or the bit with the stars on his head I would drop it in a flash.

For me it is just the fact there are no enemies, no danger, no peril, no tension and no skill needed.
There doesn't appear to be any possible way of failing getting from the left of the screen to the right.

Why do you need to die/fail though? Why cant it just be a playground for you to have fun in and quit when you're fed up!? Thats partly why it seems so interesting, in that with no time limits or set goals you can just arse about as much as you want and still be a winner at the end!

Oh and that .gif of the wee guy air guitaring is aces!

                            LittleBigPlanet - the reason I bought a PS3 (I just didn't know it at the time )

Looks a bit meh. Lovely art style and I can see where some people will find it appealing but it's not for me. If it comes with loads of really well designed levels it could be an attractive and fun platformer but not much else.
I must be too old to appreciate the Home / MySpace / Bebo social networking stuff.

I think that is where Sony have spotted a market, capturing the current cultural zeitgeist seems to be Sony's thing - they did it with PSOne and to some extent understanding the publics desire for DVD with PS2.

With PS3 they are hoping to catch the social network culture that has developed and is still developing. This is typical Sony, I don't consider them pioneers like Nintendo, but they do have a knack for understanding the consumer and taking existing technology/ideas and repackaging them in a way that the majority appreciate.

And I think it is the sharing of people's creations (see the end of the skateboard clip) that will make LBP a success rather than whether or not there are bad guys to kill in each level.
