Yeah, it's been confirmed like that. Basically the XMB closes when you launch a game or BD so the download functionality, which is provided by the XMB, disappears.

I'm sure it was mentioned to Sony and they've advised they're working on it, but as has been mentioned above, I don't think it will be a simple fix because the architecture doesn't natively support it.

Not that I’m doubting the information the fine fellows above me have provided (certainly I’ve read exactly the same thing myself). However last night I added my first friends to my friend list (which I presume is a XMB function) yet when I was playing RR7 I kept getting notification when certain people were online/offline.

Is this separate from the XMB?

There's mixed messages coming from SCEA and SCEE, the latter claims the BG D/Ling will be available when playing games with 1.6

I'm not sure it's separate to the XMB, but I wonder if the footprint is small enough that it's not a major issue?

Great news if that SCEE press release is true though.

              EDIT: http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/backgro...ing-246099.php

Confirmed by SCEA PR too now. Same as the 360, you can download and play, but the download will stop if you go online with a game.

Does anyone know if things dont work until friday, i bought tekken off the Uk store yesterday, and when i start it says software not supported and some weird error code, i assume its because the store says release date is 23rd march, this has been downloaded on a jap machine.

I'n not sure, but it may require firmware 1.60 which is available now. I'm currently downloading content from the Store whilst posting this message via my PS3

I downloaded Tekken 5: DR on Tuesday eveing (EU store on a US PS3) and it’s played no problem from the moment it downloaded.

However, yours isn’t the first instance I’ve heard of the EU Tekken download not working on a JP machine. Razz posted on the GHZ forums that he had the same issue.

I also downloaded Tekken: DR last night to my US PS3, and its working fine (just upgraded firmware to 1.60, and still OK).

Maybe this is an issue with the firmware.

I haven't downloaded the latest firmware yet for what's it worth so it's been running on the old FW.

Maybe it's a language or character set setting or something? I honestly don't know anything else to suggest

Got the new firmware, seems to be fine. Does not fix spelling mistakes though. So I still have
